Took my two down the park today, all was fab they both met a mongrel a lab and another staffy .. However! On the way back to the car in the distance i spotted a woman with her staff of lead, didnt really bother me because my two are fine and surely a Da dog wouldnt be of lead let alone un muzzled ( even tho it happens so i do take care).
Anyway! The problem lay in the ditsy owner!! Who clearly had no control of her staffy (gorg lil brindle girl she was) .. I had skye n my mom had vinnie, mom was lagging behined and suddenly this staffy darted over as soon as she saw my two the owner was calling her name in the weakest way ever! No effort at all! She then give up n muttered shes friendly anyway .. Not the point!? In my opinion if youcant keep your dog from darting over to other dogs the recalll is not good and still needs to be worked on before going of lead in a park full of dogs! For the dogs safety because what if she ran upto a DA dog!?
The staffy scared skye as she didnt see her and she barged skye right over onto her side .. So skye jumped up and pushed her to the floor growling at her in the face .. I grabbed skye and the lil brindle ran straight back to her owners who dished out a dirty look while mumbling something, to wich i replied loudly
If you cant control your dog dont have her of the lead that could of been so much worse!!

Some people ayee!! doh

Yeah. This is why Monte is still on lead even at the dog park sometimes. He can pretend he is deaf and it gives me heart attacks. I'll only let him off if I know all the dogs he is playing with. Working on it though.

Some people. We are still working on Rockys recall, it is getting better though and we still keep him on a long line when out for walks.

Like you say some dogs are DA and would not appreciate someone else's dog just barging in on the action friendly or not.

Had it a few times with Zac (very DA) ... dogs chargin upto him, owners miles away angry so I'm left trying to stop him locking on to their dogwhile they stroll around in the distance at wits end

Max isnt DA, but his recall isnt 100% when there are distractions and people to jump up, so he stay's on an extender in public Wink

Tyson is exactly the same - fortunately we know the dogs at the park well. I never let him off if there are strange dogs there.
