where does my new dog sleep? advice please
Just rescued another staff so iv 2 now, I don't know where he should sleep. Maisy is used to sleeping in the kitchen no probs but on the first night I put her in the room - which she loves cos she gets the sofa, n my new staff Scooby in the kitchen. He cried so i ended up letting him sleep in my room. A few days on Maisy is still in the room n he upstairs but last night she wanted to come up too. My toddler ends up in with me during the night too, I didn't really want the dogs sleeping upstairs but Scooby was abandond so he likes to be with you n I don't want Maisy feeling left out. Also I'm not keen on leaving both dogs together on their own, should I be firm or do I give in n have them all in my room. Help!

Never had 2 dogs together so splitting them up over night I wouldn't know, but if you don't want either in the bed you have to be firm now.
Moo sleeps on mine but thats just me and her. 2 dogsand a Todddler? I value at least a bit of kip

My two both sleep in the kitchen .. i personally think splitting them at night is not need unless really needs to be otherwise i think you might have one thinking well why cant i go sleep there too? and long run MAY cause jelousy .. My skye is crated in the kitchen and My vinnie is just in his bed.
More personal preference i suppose

We have Skye sleeping with the kids ( they are 14 and 15) and buster sleeps on our bed but in the morning when the kids are up Skye comes and sleeps on the bed as well mind you once they are both on the bed it can sometimes mean I don't get anymore sleep lol
If you don't want them on the bed be firm and consistent it won't take long ( both ours do lay on their own bed beside ours when they get to much and want to play but that's not often as they love to cuddle and snooze)

the trick with a rescue is to start as you mean to go on. to pamper to a dogs fears is telling them its ok to be like that. the dogs can let go of the past and forget about it quicker than us. it is our job to help them to get over it and to learn not to fear anything. i know how you feel when you say she was abandoned it would take a very hard hearted person not to feel for them but if you wanted her to sleep downstairs you should have done that from the first night. your going to have a job on now trying to get anyone to sleep downstairs wiuthout the cries and we softies never like to listen to them cry. if you are happy with everyone sleeping upstairs then try a bed each or one big bed for the both of them. it will take a few nights of you getting up and putting them back in it for them to get the message but with perceverance (could never spell that word) they will get the message to sleep in their own bed its just up to you where that bed goes. They may surprise you. When we got Lottie we kept the 2 of them apart at night but then after the first couple of nights they cried to get to each other so we left them both in the kitchen and they slept together in the same bed and still do alot of the time. Lemmy mainly sleeps on my knee and Lottie likes the fury throw on the sofa but we still get up a lot of the time and find them in the one bed together. Good luck with what ever you decide

You all must have much warmer kitchens then I do, our kitchen is always freezing. Its also only tiny, If I lay down I think I would cover all the floor (and i'm 5.7)
Romeo has always slept in my room. When he was a puppy he liked to sleep on the bed and now he's older (and a lot bigger) he prefers to sleep in his bed. He always has another bed in the living room that he sleeps in when i'm at work. I don't see any harm in letting them sleep in your room.
