meeting breeders this weekend
Well ive been waiting for a year and doing tons of research and finally booked a flight to alberta (thankgod i have free accomodations) meeting up with 2 breeders that breed for good disposition, looks, good health and there not money making breeders. My heart is set on a women that has 8 children and 9 dogs. these dogs must be good with kids that is so great, cus i have a nasty french bulldog that i believe was taking from her mom to young. I requested a male since my dog is a female and I want a dog that is laid back easy going not too hyper. If I have to wait for another round of breeding I will. Wish me luck peoples! I will post some pics!! YIPEEEEE. no puppies yet, not till july which is good cus im very IMPULsive! by the way please give me helpful hints what to ask and look for!

Wow, exciting times!
If the breeder is a good one, she won't mind you asking as many questions as you need to! In fact, she'll welcome the interest you show.
Firstly, I'd ask to see the prospective dam & if possible see the prospective sire(a lot of breeders don't own the stud dog, and if this is the case ask who it is going to be so that you can do some research yourself).
Ask whether all the relevant health checks have been carried out on the bitch & whether they will insist on the same for the stud.
Ask how the breeder feeds their pups so that you can do a little research on feeding your new pup when he comes home.
Then enjoy the cup of tea (hopefully!) & chat that will follow!
I know when I bought Bandit, the breeder had both sire & dam. We saw the dam with the pups & then seperately (gorgeous bitch, really friendly, althletic & fit) and then she showed us into the living room & said she'd bring the stud dog in. As she left the room, she said "You might want to sit down". So we sat on the sofa & waited. A couple of minutes later the door opened & a huge male staff sauntered in, took one look at us & went like a bullet from a gun straight onto my oh's lap, nearly taking his front teeth out with the impact!
