Supplement question Empty Supplement question

At what age is it neccesary or advisable to start giving your dog supplements? I wanted to start giving Suki some Omega 3 fatty acid supplements to help with her joints and coat. All the products I've seen contain fish which she is allergic to. Is this really needed for a dog at 18 months or should I wait until she has aged a bit to worry about it?

because Winston has pink skin, my vet said he may get skin problems, so he gets omega 9 oil on his food each day like Jethro does. It is a mixture of oils including flaxseed..vitamin E , and a few others ( can't remember exactly and I'm not at home ) The main thing is to follow the dosage exactly and not to give them too much of it. I know he is only 10 months but so far so good!

You can start at any age with oils. The only way around the fish thing is to buy the vegetarian omega oils, but they're quite expensive.

I didn't know they had a vegetarian option. I just want to make sure her joints are healthy. I may look for a doggy version of the glucosamine and chronidion supplement to support the cartilage growth and just let the coat be because of her allergies.

The omega 3 i get for my dogs is suitable for vegi's.

I have given my dogs these from being approx 7-8 months old and they are very used to it now and expect them straight after their dinner now.

It is worth starting early as then they build up a defense or barried over the time so if when older they get bad joints they already have a barried within them.

Really worth trying them hun

I did'nt know either that there was vegi supplements and the tablets put bruno off his food...so he gets it naturally from salmon, fish etc.

You can also use Apple cider vinegar for dogs and most pets...1 tablespoon in their water daily helps them concerning allergies, arthritis and there coat and numerous other reasons...i've tried bruno and still a no go situation such a choosie staff but that's how he came to us Sad

I'd get the human ones - they're usually cheaper!

I buy mine from home bargins and they are £2.49 for a tub of 90 caps

Human supplements are usually cheaper and it was my vet who told me to get the human ones she said they were just as good
