#@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
We are staying at a pals place and walked down the pub tonight for tea. We were gone about three quarters of an hour all up if that.Took the boys for a walk first, then locked them in their crates. Came back and opened the door, Jethro's crate sitting there wide open... empty !!! Somehow he got out and went berserk and he has ripped and pulled all the vertical blinds off in the kitchen. Our friend is renting this place...Tony doesn't realise how bad it is yet..he is watching Heartbeat in the lounge. Remember how I said Jethro has nearly caused a marriage break up..tonight is another classic example....Far out....!! I am not happy !!

i just cant believe my little jethro would do that! It must of been winston!hahaha

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
It couldn't have been Jethro! I think what happened is a poltergeist ripped the blinds & Jethro managed to open his crate door & scare it away!

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
Oh no, is it really bad?
I'm with others though, couldn't have been Jethro

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
I bet this is what happened; a cat came into the kitchen. Tore the place up, and Jethro got out and fended it off!

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
trust me it WAS Jethro !! Sadly it is not the first time he has gone bonkers and done damage.
The amount of damage he has caused over the years is unbelievable.... We spent hours trying to find all the clips and trying to straighten out the blinds.. some have teeth marks, one is ripped almost in half.... Tony was and said the only arguements we have ever had in our 11 years of marriage has been over Jethro as of course I always try to make excuses for him.
What really bugs me is that we left the air con on, the tv on and I even brought my pheramone diffuser and had that plugged in as well..and we weren't even gone one hour!
Tony is so worried that Winston will pick up on Jethro's moods when he is like this... he just seems to freak out...and at the moment Winston is such a good boy lately. He was just lying in his crate but must have seen the whole thing as they were only a few feet from each other.
I thought that we would have to replace the whole thing. we managed to patch it up but it doesn't look the best ! One time Tony was fixing up a lady's car for her and we took Jethro for a drive with us..now Jethro loves the car and going for drives but Jethro decided to have a panic attack and shredded the visor and ripped all the lining off the roof while we were in a shop for like 10 minutes!
Anyway when we went for our walk finally tonight just before midnight
I told Tony I am taking Jethro to the vets next week to see what can be done about his nervous state of mind...can I get a prescription of valium to give him.. I know I sure as hell need some ! We just never know when he is going to freak out and I can't believe he managed to break out of his crate !
I need to go and have a nice cup of tea now...Phew!What a night!

Not Jethro!!! Maybe he is Vlad's long lost brother! I hope the damage wasn't too bad and not too expensive! It's hard to believe that Jethro would do such a thing!

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
Aww no that's awful, glad you managed to patch it up as best you could. Hope you are ok though and poor Jethro for what he must be feeling to act like this. Hope you can get something sorted to help calm him! Has he always been like this, or since he has got older?

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
Karen when he was about 3 or 4 years old they put pipes through the property behind us..there was banging and yelling and lights going day and night..... He had like a nervous breakdown ( true! ) and would sit in his bed with his back to us.. shaking and puffing. He has never been the same since..he has been such hard work as his anxiety level has always been through the roof and he has chewed, ripped, shredded, destroyed so many things over the years when he has a panic attack...and we never know what us going to trigger one. He is on calming formula tablets, I have rescue remedy drops in his food and water daily, he has a thundershirt, pheramone diffuser, lavender oil.... and promax tablets from the vets to knock him out completely when I just can't take it anymore !
But he gets a clean bill of health at the vets every visit.... Richard says he is wonderful and healthy for his age.. but I am booking him in for the next week or so..there must be something he can take ..something strong !! .. before I turn into a raging alchalholic!!
If he was my first dog I can tell you now I would be a cat person !!
But after all that.. I can't help it.. I love him to death !!
Guest- Guest
Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
I didn't realis the extent of his problem, that must be awful for all of you but also for Jethro too as he really must be getting himself into such an unnatural state. Fingers crossed for you that the Vet will be able to help you, good to hear that he is otherwise in perfect health though! And no wonder you can't help but love his as we all do, he is a special boy.

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
Thanks again Karen. I don't normally tell everyone how much of a nutter Jethro is..but hey on here we are all friends! When he isn't being a looney he is the most adorable and loving doggie ! I reckon he might have a touch of doggie alzheimers too now, so I will ask the vet about that.

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
Aw, poor fella, he must get so stressed! Do you leave his thundershirt on him when you go out?

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
Vanessa, hang in there hun. ><
You have done an amazing job with Jethro and his paranoia (or what ever it is that sets him off). When we met him in person I fell in love with his calm and easy going nature. Not that I hadn't already seeing his gorgeous face on here.
With all the issues you have had to deal with given his panic attacks etc we would never know unless you tell us.
Is their any kind of pattern to these episodes...? Does this awful weather have anything to do with it.....?
Kita the one who usually is the calmest out of our two is acting really strange and so restless tonight. I seriously have no idea why.

..and Lee there is no method to his madness.. last night the tv was on, the air con was on and he was in the same room, the dap pheramone diffuser was plugged in...Winston was in the same room in his crate.. he was as happy as larry. We just never know when he is going to lose it....
Tony said it because I haven't treated him like a dog, but I know it goes far deeper than that! After Jethro goes to the vets.. I am going to the phsychiatrist... because I feel like I am losing MY marbles !!

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
Oh hun, ><
Tony is as much at a loss as you and doesn't know what to say or how to make it right (and of course he's a mere male anyway, so not much chance of him knowing the right answer ). Sorry boys
I wish I'd read this last night as I was at home today and would have rung you.
Does Tony seriously think I've treated Kita like a dog (whatever that is when you give it some thought - bit like "what's really normal" )
Kita is my baby and always will be, some of the time she is the "child I was never fortunate enough to have", I don't treat her like a hooman child, but she gets all the love, encouragement and happiness you give your kids while I get the elation (for want of a better word) one feels as a proud parent, especially when she returns that same love 1000x more.
I'll probably get knocked down in flames for daring to make a comparisson , however I ask any hooman mum how can you judge unless you are in my shoes......
I hope the vet can help out, at least he knows Jethro very well. I'm still not as happy with the vet I took Kita to on Monday, I just don't have the same rapport as I did with my previous vets in Adelaide, Townsville and Cairns
I'm back at work tomorrow at 7am, but I'll be around after 3pm if you need a shoulder or ear to listen. Hope you've still got my mobile. Message me on FB if you don't and remind Tony why he's always loved Jethro, I'm sure there will be many more positives than he realises.
Sending you lots of doggy slobber and kisses from my girls

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
Minty, Murphy is doing well if he can still hear loud noises.
Kita is celebrating her 15th birthday on Saturday and her hearing is much worse than her sight and that is pretty bad as well.

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
aww thanks Lee.. you are a darling! When Jethro is being 'normal' he is a delight ..he is loving and obedient and it is hard to believe he is the same dog when he has one of his panic attacks. Alot of my friends, who aren't really doggy people, think Jethro is just the bees knees.. if only they knew !
Yes I am very lucky that I have such a great rapport with my vet.... I have seen some shockers in my day, but that is why we go so far to see him, because he is such a top vet.
We just got back from our walk, and it was wonderful walking while it was spitting with rain, as it is still quite muggy here. Anyway both the boys had their doggie biscuit when we got back, Jethro has gone to bed in the bedroom where he sleeps ( we are back home now ) I have the fan on the floor and he is about 6 inches from it, and the radio is on for him playing late night love songs!
And I know what you mean about your baby girl.. Jethro is the only kid I have ever had !
Am phoning the vets tomorrow so will keep you posted. XXX
..and Minty I know where you are coming from ! >< ><

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
I just hope and pray whatever it is, that it doesn't rub off on Winston... for instance Winston has heard gun shots and is not scared at all..Jethro is a quivering heap.... I would hate Winston to turn out as nervous as Jethro....so I hope Jethro doesn't teach Winston to be scared of 'things'
Guest- Guest
Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
Vanessa I don't think Winston will learn to behave that way from Jethro's behaviour, but he may pick up on your & Tony's reaction to it.
I so wish Izzy would pick up on Kita's calm nature (especially when there's a storm, but it just ain't happening).
However, if I sound stressed or respond in a certain way Izzy will stop dead in her tracks and the look she gives me....
Kita is doing my head in with all her chewing and scratching, but if I sound the least bit peeved Izzy loses it, so I have to try and remain calm all the time for both of them

Hope you have some luck with the Vets , it must drive you a little mad, but when the kids are naughty it's difficult to punish them Can't really see how our lovable beauties can be treat anything other than like babies, as some of you know Tilly has been having her lady op today and I have been just as anxious as I would be as if my daughter was in hospital. We got her to be part of the family and the only thing she doesn't get to do is sit at the table for her meals. And my daughter Jenny gets a little cross with me when I won't let her on the couch for a Daddy daughter cuddle, I tell her I'm already having one with Tilly

My 15 year old dog is a bit deaf, bit blind, bit senile. She doesn't hear the sound of artilary at the army range but hears a whistle.Last few weeks she has decided that crows in the park are out to get her and gets really worried by them. Had blood tests etc done to check why she has suddenly started eating more food but the vet recons she is forgetting she has had her tea and coming back wondering why we haven't fed her?.

I'm sure Kita has doggy dementia
She gets off her bed and has no idea which way she is meant to be heading or why she got up in the first place
Nothing wrong with her appetite either.

OMG! Poor you and poor Jethro Vanessa. How did your friends react to their blinds being mutilated? He must have been in a right state to bust out of his cage and do that. I really hope the vet can help you.
Lee, I am blessed to have 3 beautiful children, and I can honestly say I feel like I have a fourth in Charlie! I totally understand and agree with your comparison

thanks everyone... this has been such an ongoing thing throughout his life...I thought he was finally out of it !
I would imagine he would have looked like this pic I saw on facebook..though when we got home was up on our pals sofa!
I mean, tell me please, how is this the face of a destructive looney..(took this this morning )

Re: #@&*$@* Jethro !!!!
Awwwwww. I still love Jethro. I am waiting for Vlad to do something major... so far it's just digging and the ring barking of one trees Of course he still eats everything else and I have mentioned a thousand times how he destroys his beds! The problem is he is just too loveable! He is outside when we aren't home, but he loves it out there. He comes in of a night and is in his crate when we are in bed. He would demolish our house at the moment if we let him have free reign LOL. We know when he's older and with further training, he will learn manners, but until then... The one thing I'll say (and I mean this is a very positive way!) is that I'm glad it's not just my fur baby that can be naughty! We always think that everyone else's dog is so much better behaved than ours, when it turns out he is pretty normal I hope Jethro's vet visit goes well and he can sort something out for him. He is too beautiful and he just reminds us of Vlad!
