Jethro's op
I am getting in early, for a purely selfish reason, if everyone can start sending their positive thoughts my way, please! Jethro is booked in for next Wednesday April 27th with my fav vet Richard to remove his cancerous lump in his throat...This will be Jethro's third op in just as many months.....With the last 2 operations he has recovered really well. Thanks everyone in advance!

Thanks so much....really appreciate it!
Right now here it is nearly midnight.. Jethro is snoring next to me.. oblivious to how anxious me and his daddy are.
Will keep you posted how he gets on.. the vet did say it shouldn't be too bad, as we are getting in before the lump gets too big. It is just that is in such a bad spot on his throat... but hopefully it will all go smoothly. The vets I go to are really a caring bunch...and I know he is in good hands.

Re: Jethro's op
Hi everyone. Jethro has had his op.. it was trickier than they thought as he had to have his salivary glands removed also .. they had compacted and there was a lot of scar tissue as well ( ? ) He has a shunt in to drain everything so the vet said he has to stay in till tomorrow to keep an eye on thing... The house is so lonely and empty without my precious old darling.... Hope he will be okay.. the vet is optimistic, but it was a big op.
But guess what.. we bought Jethro a baby brother today... we get him in a week or so.... I am uploading some pics soon.. will post on the gallery.
Hope my brave boy Jethro loves his surprise..

Re: Jethro's op
Jethro is safe and well and home on the lounge asleep. The vet was very happy with his progress, and said he was relieved to find the compacted salivary glands and not a big tumour! Phew. He has a heap of pain killers and antibiotics to take, and Richard the vet wants him back in 10 days to take out the stitches and check him over. My big brave boy Jethro. Last night the house was so empty, and me and Tony kept looking down at his empty basket beside our bed. So glad he is back with us... thanks so much for all your well wishes! Really appreciate it! I love Jethro far too much for my own good!

Re: Jethro's op
So glad to hear it went well. Give the old boy lots of cuddles from us. They may be sooks and soak up all our love like sponges but deep down they are tough nuts aren't they.

Re: Jethro's op
.. thanks everyone! Yeah when they did the biopsy the other week, the vet detected cancerous tissues in his lump. They presumed it was a tumour and couldn't tell until they opened him up... We are very relieved I can tell you. The vet said he can manage quite well without those salivary glands as he has others.. a bit too technical for me when he explained...
Told Jethro he is getting his own baby brother for being such a model patient.... he wasn't that fussed about it!!

Typical! You go and find a baby brother for him & all he can think about is himself!
So glad he's back home & on the mend!

Re: Jethro's op
Jethro is doing well... he is such a good boy.. he takes his antibiotics and pain killers without a fight.. he must know he needs to get well so he can play with his new baby brother! It looks quite swollen where all the stitches are, but he is still doing all the things he loves doing, so it can't be worrying him too much. And what are the things??.. eating and sleeping !! Here he is last night......dreaming about getting well and playing with his brother....

Re: Jethro's op
Me and my big mouth. Just noticed one side of Jethro's throat is even more swollen, phoned the vet, and they want to see him tomorrow. They want me to take his medication in, he may need something stronger.. My poor boy. It certainly isn't worrying him though ( only me ) he is outside eating a biscuit and lying in the sun.

Re: Jethro's op
took Jethro to the vet...alot of the swelling had gone done, but the vet I saw said it was normal for it to swell and that he was actually doing okay.. phew!! She also remarked what a great job that my normal vet had done with the op... so Jethro home, safe and sound....so far so good...
