Got into a bit of trouble
I was sitting in my living room last week and I noticed a staffie pup running down the road being chased by one of my neighbours and his son. The dog had obviously escaped and they were trying to catch him. What happened when they did catch him got me so mad I stormed outside to confront the guy!
As the dad caght the dog he gripped the poor little thing by his hind legs and dangled him in the air. The poor pup started thrashing about so the guy and his son, who is aged around 9/10 years old, gave the pup quite a few whacks!!! I grabbed my shoes and went outside. I caught up with the guy and his son just as they were entering his house. I asked him "what the f**k do you think you're doing to that pupppy?" to which he replied "none of your business you nosey ***T!!"
The pup was still dangling upside down at this point so I asked the guy to turn him the right way up. He threw the dog inside his house and slammmed the door then approached me with the intent of unnerving me. Hard luck, I'm a 6ft 2 18 stone bodybuilder!! There was a bit of a scuffle and I he had the police round to me about an hour later after complaing that I'd beaten him up. I explained what the guy was doing to the pup and they didn't seem too bothered which also peeved me off.
I have since found out that he had another staffie before that he ill treated so badly that it had to be put to sleep. People like this p***k shouldn't be allowed any pets. I'm going to call my local RSPCA and see if they can do anything.

Re: Got into a bit of trouble
Some people should never have dogs, should they? Unfortunately I have very little confidence in the RSPCA to do anything at all. They'll just say it was your word against his.
How did the police leave it?

The police will want to drop it, so you'll need to decide whether or not you want to take it further. If you do, you'll have to pester them!

I would call the RSPCA, I know i am usually the one to say they are useless but if you keep onto them they will come out, also i heard they'v gotten a new lease on life the past few months and are kicking *'s over the slightest things.Well done you though, its just a shame he didn't keep ahold of the pup so you could of stollen it. Poor thing.

Re: Got into a bit of trouble
What a rotten thing to do to any dog. So sorry about this. Glad you stepped in and confronted the guy. I hope the RSPCA will in fact act and look into the matter. Can't blame the pup from trying to run away!

I really don't understand how anyone can treat animals like that. Well done stepping in and I hope the RSPCA can do something about it.

You did what you could so well done. Would it be worth logging it also with the local council/dog warden? It might not be any help but the more peoplewho know about scum like this the better Xx

Re: Got into a bit of trouble
At least your strong enough to give that guy a hiding!
I've had confrontations and scuffles with people but i'm no bodybuilder just a weak female.
The poor dog, what a disgusting individual! And to teach his son such cruelty too.
People like that should be castrated so they don't breed. The poor puppy, he'll be lucky to end up without a serious injury.
I suggest you DO report it to the RSPCA, if they get enough reports they will pay him a house call. I saw a case on animal 24/7 rescue when a man was accused of punching his staffy and they took it away from him.
Saying that though they do have a nasty happy of declaring any bull breed as 'type' and putting it down.

This kind of thing just infuriates me. Don't want to think about what the poor little puppy is going through. All you can really do is keep reporting things that you see happening to it.

That's brilliant Jon! Think I'd end up doing time if I seen anyone hitting Jess!
Luckily we're we live now in Norfolk it's full of dog lovers who tend to have Staffies or English bull terriers! Only been here 3 months now and already had 3 or 4 offers for Jess from other staffie owners!

Re: Got into a bit of trouble
my parents used to run pubs and would often find abandoned animals left when they took over( we ended up with my old dog, a lurcher, who we found in the cellar) we'd phone the rspca and the same response every time was, sorry we can't do anything, try these. in oxfordshire recently an animal sanctuary was shut down after more reports of neglect, now the rspca is under investigation as they knew about it for 12 months prior but did nothing. so i'm sorry, i have little faith in them,. might be worth contacting other rescue center's so they put pressure on the rspca to act

Re: Got into a bit of trouble
Good job for stepping up and saying something to try and help that poor pup.
It SERIOUSLY concerns me that people think it is OK to do such a thing , but it makes me sad to think of what else this poor pup is having to endure on a daily basis.

Re: Got into a bit of trouble
so um... what are the RSPCA there for anyway? if no one believes they'll take action (because they haven't in the past) what is the purpose of the RSPCA? I don't understand?
I have reported twice to the RSPCA, once because I knew of a guy who was abusing his dogs - but my report didn't count because I hadn't witnessed it personally, his sister had told me about it.
and once because it was a 45C day and there were two goats tied to a tree with no water. don't think they did anything then as it was new years eve...

Re: Got into a bit of trouble
I used to donate regularly to the RSPCA but they were forever sending me election forms.. and asking me to vote for this one or that one as to what positions they held within the RSPCA. I don't donate anymore to them as I wanted my money to go to the animals not to all the dumb humans within the organization trying to get pay rises etc !

Re: Got into a bit of trouble
Not heard or seen the RSPCA yet!! As per usual major let down but to top it off I saw the fella today with two dogs!!!!! He has an all black boy (which I saw him abusing before) and a black and white (not sure if m or f). I'm gonna get onto the RSPCA again tomorrow and chase them up. This is a joke!! I'm actually getting annoyed writing this
