Re: Is my staffy a Amstaff?
No I didn't get given any I asked but they didn't have any his apperance looks like a Amstaff because of such body parts for example long legs like a Amstaff and his ears and head look similar to a Amstaff from my point of view.

Lol I don't know what's with the blue eyes maybe because of the flash on my digital camera but his eyes when you see them are brown with his black pupils his looks cute but his very impulsive his thinks biting is licking for some strange reasons lol but his okay its like jelly when hands go in his mouth it doesn't leave scarring or any such wounds.

There are only 4 banned breeds in the UK and Amstaff is not one of them but no, he does not look like an Amstaff.

He looks like a staff to me. How tall is he?
An American Staffordshire Terrier is basically a registered pitbull, so yes, it would be considered a banned breed in the UK. An American Bulldog is ok (although some could still be classed as pit 'type').

Oops, my bad. I thought an Amstaff was a separate breed from a Pit.
Apologies

A lot of Amstaffs in the USA are dual registered as Amstaffs with the AKC and Pitbulls with the UKC (I think that's the one).

Re: Is my staffy a Amstaff?
Until the early 19th century, the Bulldog used for bullbaiting in England was more active and longer-legged than the breed as we know it today. It is thought that the cross of this older Bulldog and a game terrier breed created the Staffordshire Terrier. Originally called the Bull-and-Terrier Dog, Half and Half or Pit Dog, it became known as the Staffordshire Bull Terrier in England. When accepted for AKC registration in 1936, the name changed to American Staffordshire Terrier to reflect the heavier American type and to distinguish them as separate breeds. This is a amstaff.....
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier draws its character of indomitable courage, high intelligence, and tenacity from his past history. The breed originated in the nineteenth century when coal miners in Staffordshire, England, wanted a small, fast dog. They combined the Bulldog with a small local terrier similar to the Manchester Terrier. The result was the Staffordshire Bull Terrier that we know today.
The staffordshire bull terrier is now know as the pit bull terrier.
This is from the AKC

Re: Is my staffy a Amstaff?
Its hard to tell at this age. Is it supposed to be full staff? Its not the best angle of photo so a side on view would be better.

You are correct Caryll regarding the double registration. Funny to me that they don't just agree on the breed name between the two but it is what it is.

Re: Is my staffy a Amstaff?
Hi, I don't know the answer I'm afraid. I'd like the answer to 'what breed/s is/are in my dog?' myself lol!! He was picked up by the dog warden as found as a stray. He was left unclaimed so after 7 days we took him
Here's a pic. of him the day we brought him home at around 6 weeks. He looks very much like your dog. The profile shot of him is him at about 9 months.

This test, I'm afraid, is so inacurate that it is virtually useless!
