Re: fencing off part of the garden
you could get some nice decking posts to use that way it doesnt look too enclosed cos of the gaps between the spindles or ordinary picket fencing.

Re: fencing off part of the garden
we got rid of all our grass and our garden now has decking and the rest patio - low maintenance is what I like and just have pots with plants in around the garden means we can just pick up the poop easily and jet wash the entire garden
Sorry thats not much help really is it xx

Same, and I have two boys who played football, but a dog is a different matter, it's now has lovely brown patches and loads of mud from the ball throwing, think we will get rid of in soon and pave it over

You could train him to only go on the patio, my mam is an ex guide dog trainer and they have to go in the same spot all the time
when he goes in the back take him on the lead to the patio and tell him to busy keep repeating the word busy while he does his toilet stuff and reward afterwards he will learn that busy means toilet on patio
saves dividing your garden and building a fence that the dog will jump over

Are you looking for something permanent or just a temporary measure while teaching them where to do there bizzo?
We have a pool ( I live in West Australia ) and of course we have pool fencing around it.
Since a certain four-legged young lady decided it would be fun to pull the washing off the line every time I hung it out, I enlisted the help of my Hubby to move the washing line and erect pool fencing to stop "Miss Naughty" from getting to it. It looks neat and stops her from going where she's not allowed. We have a matching gate for ease of access between the two areas too.
It may cost a little extra at the beginning , but it will do the job and last a long time.
Good luck ( I will take some pics later and add here )

We have no lawn... which is handy big Vlad is also known as Mr Dig A Lot! I am thinking of starting a vege garden, so I am going to fence off a large corner so he can't eat it and destroy it all! I'll be using paving stones as the base, as he seems to like the taste of wood (you would notice this as he has ring barked one of our lovely trees). A few layers of chicken wire will be the go to I think... He is a naughty boy!

I think that's a great idea. It'll save the cost of fencing etc, not to mention the inconvenience. You'll need to supervise him when he's in the garden for a while but it's amazing how quickly a certain area will become their 'toilet area'.
