Dog Advise on an alternatives for kennels

Post by StaffieTess Tue Dec 13 2011, 11:52

Hi all
Just seeking any advise, guidence or experiences on any alternatives to kennels while on holiday that people have had/used Smile Not going away until May but wanted to do some investigating on alternatives - I have looked into Holidays4Dogs - a person who looks after dogs in their own homes but wondered what other peoples experiences have been.

My husband thinks I am a worry wart but don't want Tess to go someone a happy and fun dog only on our return to be a different dog. We both have older parents so that is not an alternative for us.

Any information will be gratefully received.

PS.: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all <:-P

The only experience I've had is when we first got Dempsey we'd already booked & paid for a holiday in Ireland. We didn't have tiem to give him all the necessary jabs etc to take him to Eire, and we thought it might be too stressful anyway, so we put him in a boarding kennel in Essex. He was just over 4 months old.

He came back to us really fit & healthy & very happy! Mind you, it's s pecialist EBT kennel (one of the biggest EBT breeders in the country) so we knew that they knew what bull breeds were like! And being breeders, they knew exactly what a Bull Terrier pup would need.

Since then we've holidayed in England.

We had booked our holiday abroad before we got Tess and ideally we would like someone who as you say knows the breed which would mean that I wouldn't worry about her.

After next year we are taking her with us Smile

Ask if your vets can reccomend anywhere, mine has a service where one of the nurses stays in your house, might be worth a thought Xx

I cant help with the kennel side of things.

However, for yourself, or others looking for somewhere that you can take dogs outside of the UK next time, I can help a little..

(possibly a section could be created if it isnt already listing all the dog friendly locations?)

We stayed at the delettes farm house in france a year ago with my parents dog.

Next year were taking my dogs, my mums, my sisters, and my brothers!!

great place for large families, large enclosed garden for the dogs!

Round where I live they do dog sitting homes, they actually take your dog to live with them while you're away, it's rather pricey though.

Janey: Where do you go in the UK that you can take Moo with you? We'd love to take Ollie with us.

I personally wouldn't leave Ollie in Kenells, but that is me, I'm kind of REALLY sensitive, I cried when my cat had to get injections, I'm a massive softy. Hope you find somewhere soon, if not we can have her Big Grin. x
