Re: Wind farms?
Good idea in theory but they have to be really large in order to produce enough energy to make a difference.

I'd rather have them than a nuclear power plant! They might be ugly, but at least they're clean & safe!

Re: Wind farms?
they are a good idea and in this day and age we should be looking at using things like these. they can be situated off shore but still people moan. they are put in field and still people moan. what will people moan about when there is no more oil and gas and the like. it is a fact that fossil fuels and gasses are running out and that is why prices are going up because the governements have put a higher tax on the companies that drill for them which as we know the more the companies have to pay out the higher the prices the consumer pays. look at the utility companies they are actualy shutting down some rigs because theyre too expensive because of the high taxes. wind farms and any other type of energy has to be used and so wind farms will start popping up all over so we had better get used to it.

When we flew to Ireland 2 years ago, we flew over an off shore wind farm. In a strange sort of way, it was quite attractive!

In my opinion they are not yet that effective and you need loads of the things just to power one very small town. I used to drive past a farm of them in Cornwall when visiting relatives and half the time the damn things were at a standstill so how they ever produced electricity is beyond me!
We are an island, I definitely think we should be looking to harness the power of the sea to produce electric. The sea and its tides are far more reliable than our fickle weather and I think it would cause a lot less controversy.
