Getting Anxious Now
had a call from the kennels to confirm tomorrow. now as i said before lotties foster carer is not doing her any favours by pandering to her every fear and whim and the woman in the kennel can only go on what the fosterer tells her so heres how the converstion went.
just confirming we said half 10 tomorrow. have you thought about a crate for her
no not thought about it why
cos lottie and your dog might need some time apart and so crating is better
does she have a crate where she is
no
then she aint getting one in my house. i have no where to put them and theyre expensive
well it was just a thought
if we think they are getting a bit boisterous or ratty with each other they can be parted by putting in seperate rooms but it all comes with the territory we will find ways round it and with training and patience they will be fine
now about the greet and meet. it would be best to let lottie come to you like last week so as not to scare her if you let your dog go straight to her it will scare her and the meeting won't go well and if the meeting doesnt go well then she won't settle with your dog.
so i am thinking does this woman want this dog adopted is it the foster carer sabotaging ts and hats why the dog has been with her for so long. she said she would keep her but she cant. so pete and i have discussed and when we get there we will leave lemmy in the car untill we go talk to the fosterer and kennel woman and then ask to take lottie from them and then get lemmy out of the car. without the fosterer near lottie she responded really well last week so we are hoping if we can part them again then things might go better. i am really not getting a good feeling about this i think we may come home empty handed

Re: Getting Anxious Now
Keep positive hun, the dogs body language willl show it all, not the handlers, so yes I suggest you take Lottie and OH has Lemmy (or vis versa).
I think (well hope you will be suprised)! But Lottie will feel negative vibes if the fosterer is unsure, as will Lemmy.
Stay posative and be confident, its all you can do. Let them sniff and play, if there is somewhere you can take them off lead, go for it.
This is about finding a forever home for Lottie and I have so much faith its going to work. Xx But it could be hard work, well worth it

Re: Getting Anxious Now
thanks janey. if you could see this woman with the dog honestly its not me being mean she really does love the dog and doesnt want her to go but she either makes the decision to keep her or let her go but not waste anyones time. but she really does pander to its every fear and the dog plays on it. its not a healthy thing for the dog it needs to be helped to move on from its crap past not live in the negative aftermath. her tome of voice and everything on the phone really has me thinking we are wasting our time. thank god petes stronger than me. i can be forceful when i need to but would feel mean to the woman but pete just sses the dogs needs and would tell them

Re: Getting Anxious Now
She's coming home tomorrow. Now get some sleep and stop worrying.
The centre must trust her as a fosterer, and they do an amzing job, now its time for her to let Lottie go to her forever home.
I would be highly disapointed and upset if anything happens otherwise. Wishing you all the best hun Xx

Re: Getting Anxious Now
As Janey says, stay positive. Just calmly explain to the fosterer that to ensure the best meeting for the dogs, you feel it best for her to hang back, so as not to upset Lottie. As long as you and Pete are upbeat and confident, both dogs should pick up on that. They will naturally be a little unsure at first, but a good walk together and clear directions from you and Pete should ease that.
I really REALLY hope it all works out for you all tomorrow. Good luck

Re: Getting Anxious Now
Like the others have said stay positive. I know it must be hard for the foster carer to let her go, esepcially if she has formed a bond with her. But like Janey said the rescue centre must trust her as a fosterer, so just go with the plan you have arranged and it will work. Thinking of you today, bet you are nervous as hell, but stay positive and give these positive vibes to both Lottie and foster carer to pick up on and things will be fine!
