Tilly now in her second season - need some advice
Hello all, back in September we thought Tilly was into her second season as she had been a little bit oddly behaved and some spotting , we have now discovered this was not the case and have found (like some females I believe) that this can just be normal and a little erratic.
She is now definitely in season , off her food , her lady bits are extremely puffed up, bleeding and she seems to be having some difficulty walking (we think she is sore but she really has to walk like John Wayne at the moment as her bits are so blown up) , especially negotiating the stairs. We could really do with knowing if we can put anything on her bits to try and make her a little more comfortable, or in fact just any other good tips to get her through this horrible time for someone so young, any help gratefully accepted
Thanks everyone

Tis may sound illy but maybe you could try a disposable nappy and cut out a hole for her tail

I'm sure there is something that can help, but Moo didn't suffer with hers, well apart from the frustration of being kept onlead!
Call the vets and ask. Don't no if they do evening promrose for dogs! Its horrible to see them down, you may just have to ride it out with extra snuggles Xx

I heard a few people put some sudocreme on the area then put some underwear so she can not lick it off, but bear in mind she needs to clean herself and it needs fresh air so don't keep it covered for too long.
But to be honest its natural and they know how to do deal with it and what is going on, so I leave them too it ad they do just fine on their own..

Tinkerbell was in season when we had her a couple of months ago. She coped just fine though, but she hated not being able to go for long walks! She licked her bits an awful lot to clean them, so I agree that Tilly needs to be able to do this too. Tinks bits were really puffy and sore looking too, but that is only natural apparently and it caused her no concern just looked nasty to us!

I dont think Tilly is able to reach down to lick her bits, she's really out of sorts at the moment laid by my feet with a nappy and a pair of kids boxers on looking all sorry for herself, maybe she will pick up over the weekend a bit she's been going through this for just over a week now , when she's finished the clocks ticking to get her over to the vet so she doesnt have to got through all this again , she's only a bairn and shouldn't have to put up with it at her age

She can't get to her bits with all that on (and personally a nappie and boxers doesn't = comfortable!), try the hygiene pants much less restrictive. They can get to there lady bits but also it stops the drips. Xx
