My dog has come out in lumps today

I have taken my dog to the vets this morning as he has come out in lumps all over his tummy legs and face, vet says it looks like an allergic reaction and has given him an injection as anyone ever had anything similar with their dog? Julie

How long did the allergy last its only been a few hours since his injection but i am convinced his lumps are getting worse

Since it is in such a specific location, it could be an environmental allergy from something he laid on. In the US they can do tests for environmental allergies and they are pretty accurate (much more accurate than food allergy tests for dogs). Maybe ask your vet about what tests are available. If you can find out what is causing the allergy you can try to avoid it better. I hope your pup is feeling better soon!

Poor boy there are quite a few on here that have suffered. I think Lynne put a pic up of Billy once. Half a piriton tablet helps. I haven't had it with Moo luckily.

Thanks for the advise...he seems a lot happy in himself since we got back from the vets but the lumps look so horrible

julie take a look in the health section as i have placed pics of woodys lumps in there. he has suffered twice now and its like they grow before your eyes. the human version of piriton works fine just half the tablet though - much cheaper than vets!!!

Poor baby. Hope he gets better soon

Hope he is abit better now.... Once Jethro got bitten by some insect and his body was covered in small lumps... and Winston got stung on the face by something and his face was so swollen, looked like someone whacked him with a base ball bat , the poor bugger. Both times I took them to the vets and they had injections that helped.
How is he now??

Thank you so much for the advise "Clifford" is my first dog so I was very worried when I saw the lumps they were just like Woody's lumps thankfully they have almost gone now and I will be keeping Piriton on hand just in case it ever happens again

it was the first time i had seen it with woody and i was scared to death!!! the piriton soon sorts it out. it will probably re-occur as woodys did although just the once so far, as soon as i spotted them coming i dosed him up and they never fully appeared. the cheap own brand antihistemine do just as well - woody is on asda hayfever and allergy non drowsy!

glad its sorting itself out - seems our staffys are prone to these!

Had this issue with Suki as well. Ours turned out to be a food allergy and she is doing well now. Glad to hear he is doing better.
