Can dry food go stale???
Thats basically it! I feed JWB and because she has 2 flavours its a pain in the bum, so I thought I would get a plastic tub to keep it in so It can be mixed.
Now I know you can get ones specifically for this but they are £30, and in my cheap shop you can get a storage box for £3.50. Its not air tight, does this matter??

I would think airtight would be best. As long as you don't buy food in bulk though I don't think it would matter. Does the bag have an experation date on it?

I'm half-inclined to weigh out Violets dry food into daily portions and put it into zip seal bags. At the moment I'm just using a cereal type tupperware thing, and it's fine for the amount that fits into it, but I'm buying 7kilo bags of food and not really sure what to do with whats left in the bag.

Re: Can dry food go stale???
I buy 2 x 7.5kg bags, one of each flavour, lasts just over a month. The box isn't air tight, so do you think its no go then? It just takes up soo much room and I was hoping that it would be ok?
Will have a look for sell by date x

Re: Can dry food go stale???
I've never placed mine in an airtight container and it usually lasts a month or two. I don't think it's made any of my dogs sick. I'll be checking back to this post to see if anyone else is in disagreement though

If you just had it in the bag it wouldn't be airtight, would it? I don't see why a box with a lid would be any worse than keeping it in the bag?

Re: Can dry food go stale???
I buy the 15kg bags of JWB (much cheaper in bulk online) and have a plastic bin that I dispense it into which sits in a cupboard just getting to the end of the first bag and all seems ok would presume as long as it is kept cool and dry it's ok

Re: Can dry food go stale???
If you are using it up within a month I doubt it would go stale, however it can lose some of the nutrition so airtight is best. However I wouldn't worry as you are getting through it is a month any who!
