Raw and biscuits Empty Raw and biscuits

Post by sammyandross Fri Oct 31 2014, 19:28

At the moment Izzy is eating wainwright grain free Turkey and rice biscuits mixed in with some wainwrights meaty pouches.

We would like to keep her staple food the biscuits but mixing in some raw with it, especially while she grows the extra protein can only benifit her.

We will more likley be using pre prepared frozen raw as don't have a lot of freezer space spare and don't particularly want carcasses etc around with my my little boy.

So really what I'm asking is it ok to mix raw with biscuit? We are looking at using the naturesmenu minces from pets at home unless we find somewhere that does similar cheaper. Things like chicken mince etv

Cheers

They wouldn't usually be mixed together due to the differing digestive times of each, sorry not much help as I have never fed a raw diet

You can give raw and biscuits on the same day but not together. Better start with the raw and after 4 hrs you can give kibble. If you start with the kibble you'll have to wait at least 8 hrs.
You can give raw/kibble diet on different days .
Other options to mix with kibbles are egg, sardines, tuna, boiled chicken or wet food like nature diet or forthglade.
Alternatively you can feed only raw .
Hope that helped.

It doesn't help me peppa is turning her posh nose at All dog food. She only sees my food as worthy. How frustrating ! As believe me only the best for the little princess .

Thanks guys, got some natures menu minced chicken and gave her that yesterday evening after her walk and she demolished it which is great, so for the time being we are going to give her biscuits and small amount of prepared wet meat morning and lunch and raw in the evening Smile

Make sure that there is plenty of time between the lunch and dinner times if you are working it that way around.
Because the biscuits take longer to digest, if she is fed raw as well, the biscuits keep the raw meat in her stomach longer increasing the chances of an upset tummy! As previously mentioned you should be waiting at least 8-12 hours for the biscuits to digest and 4-5 for raw Smile
