tyler is now nearly 7 months old and he must be the naughtiest dog i have ever known,he has chewed everything possible in the house and garden,he hates going for walks even after trying toys, treats, talking to him nicely,if we have to go out we put him in his cage and he doesnt stop crying at all,he wont sleep on his own, when we first got him my 12 year old rescue bitch started to play with him and it seemed they were getting on fine but for the past month she hates him hes always teasing her ,so me and the wife are thinking about having his bits off,is this worth while, will it calm him down.

Neutering may not help at all. It sounds like normal puppy behaviour to me. Have you tried getting him slowly used to his crate and to being left alone. Basically 5 minute then 10 then 15? A blanket over the crate and a radio left at low volume may also help

You can use Vicks VapoRub or Bitter Apple on the things he likes to chew. The walks are important because at that age he needs 35 minutes 2 or 3 times per day. This will help with his energy levels which should help with the behaviour issues

Hi Alan how often do you walk him and for how long?, I know it's frustrating but try and be firm but calm as they can pick up our moods. As for the walking I have a friend who has a EBT who refuses to go for walks so she pops him in the car and drives to the park, when he gets there he is absolutely fine could this be an option for you to try?

I think the problem lays in the walking. The more you walk him the less destructive / problematic he'll be at home. I know when Pru is knackered out from a walk she becomes so laid back and lovely. Perhaps try focusing on getting the walks down and see if everything else falls into place.

Lots of training, loki can be so naughty some times!!! So frustrating we are having loki neutered at 9 months, just personal preference for us because then there are no accidents etc.

We have a 7 month old, he's also had his bits off.  I tend to agree with the above post regarding walking, I take Baxter out for between and hour and an hour and a half in the morning then again for half an hour in the evening.  We got back from his walk at 1pm and he's flat out in his bed as I type, he's been there since about 2pm.  Don't get me wrong he can still be a little swine but this tends to be before he goes for his walk or when he's ready to go in the evening.  Try finding some games he likes when your out, this might make him more enthusiastic to go.
