Hi we got Zara at 8 weeks. We don't have a crate for her. She sleeps in the kitchen in a cosy bed. She cried all night for the first week. She's 14 weeks now and sleeps through. So there is light at the end of the tunnel it does get better. The first week was hard. I was so tempted to go sleep in the kitchen with her but the sleepless nights payed off. Although last night I allowed her to sleep upstairs on our bed as she has started spending time upstairs now. Of course she loved and so did we Smile

Darcy is crate trained and she cried for about 4 night then settled, she had a warming blanket, teddy bear and a ticking clock. Smile

I've never been able to bear having a baby puppy crying it's heart out at night and have always taken them into or onto my bed at night.

But, if you have a human bed partner this may not be possible if their idea of what happens in bed at night does not involve puppies! In which case (if you don't have a child who will take over the night-time companionship of the pup) then the measures above will help the puppy settle into its new nightime abode eventually - tough love!

Good luck!

Roman sleeps in our room at night (in his bed, not mine) so he has never cried as he has never been alone (something which we need to work on!)

In our experience with pups, they do get over it after a few days. Just make sure that they're comfortable and warm. Hopefully it sorted now, but with perseverance it is easy to get them sleeping without crying Smile

I remember those days for sure lol sasha didnt cry at night but she cried early hours in the morning.  We just gave her something warm and soft to cuddle upto and left the radio on quietly that eeally helped. Also we put a blanket over her cage in fact we still do she  puts herself to bed now at 9.30 and doesnt stir until 7. I know we all say it but it really does get better the crying days dont last long x
