What do you currently feed her and what did the vet suggest?

Just see how you go, I always go on shape and weight, up it or lower it as needed. It is said that they put on weight after the op but I have never had a problem Smile

Don't cut her food down unless her exercise is going to be restricted!

It isn't an automatic thing that bitches put on weight after being spayed. For the first couple of weeks afterwards, her exercise will obviously be less because she has stitches & a sore wound, but after that you can gradually build up the exercise to previous levels.

I wouldn't recommend tinned food at all, it's 80% water & usually very low in nutrients.

Which food do you give her? It's hard to say if you're giving enough because we don't know how big your hands are to judge a 'handful'!Big Grin  But if she's not putting on or losing weight then the amount you're giving is right for her!Wink

Wet food doesn't supply the nutrients needed, what brand is the food? Smile

I feed my feed my dog tinned and dry food. I do buy the PFIAA food (it has to be a certain standard in Australia to get the approval). I know a lot if people on this site are against it, but my dog is fine.

We only feed Tilly dry , if others want to mix with wet to keep it interesting then their choice we can only advise. Anyway just a point to not when we had Tilly done we made no changes at all to her diet and she is doing fine , Vet gave her 10/10 when she went for her injections , she's 3 now so 1 1/2 years on she is a perfect weight for her build and maintains it well
