Hello Everyone

Thinking of getting a new fur baby and just wanted people's view/advice on a couple of things:

Cats....
I have 2 rescue cats in residence and never owned staffs and cats together. I love to rescue (my last 2 staffs were rescue) so rescue would be my first thought but I cant seem to find a cat friendly staff and then if I do I am worried about how it would all fall into place am I best going for a puppy so the cats are more accepting and the pup would get used to the cats??

Work....
Also I work now and didnt when had staffs in the past - is 6 hours too long for fur baby to be on their own?? I have used cages in the past so I know some really like them and think this is the way I would go but not sure about leaving them that long.

My heart says go get one NOW and my head says not yet.... Really miss not having a staff around not had one for 3 yrs now but only recently started to pine for one.

So any success stories about cats and working are much appreciated Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Hi & welcome to the forum.

If you go for a rescue you can often get an older dog that's happier to be left alone for short periods, but I wouldn't crate a dog for 6 hours! Much too long. Could anybody pop in during the day just to let the dog relieve itself in the garden & have a bit of company for 15 minutes?

Some rescue actually test their dogs with cats, so contact a few and go on a list for when the next one comes in?

A pup would be easier with the cats, but not being left alone for that length of time. It would get bored, destructive & would be a devil to house train. Sad

There are many members here who both work & have cats, so it's definitely possible!

Hiya from me and Moo, can't really advise on cats but as mentioned, rescue shelters will test, as for working, personally I would just go for a slightly older dog (its sooo much easier lol), say 10mnths, still a pup but slightly more mature Smile

Good luck in your search and please keep us updated Xx

Hi & welcome to the forum >Big Grin<
I have spoken to several rescue centres and struggled also to find a staffy who could be rehomed with cats. They said the main problem is they have so much to do that they put them down as not suitable until tests have been done......which allot of the time they don't get the time to do since they are already overworked.

Hello everyone - thanks for popping by wave

Cant wait to be a staffy mummy again - not rushing it though has to be the right one.

Just re-doing the garden today and fixing the fence - a bit like getting a nursery ready for a baby Big Grin
