Shock Collars Empty Re: Shock Collars

Yep, def a good read. There were two main points that stuck out for me...

"Maybe it will help to know that people train 2-ton walruses, polar bears, lions, and killer whales without devices that cause pain."

"Most trainers who promote shock collars sell shock collars."

There is a woman who lives close to my mum who has two little yappy mini-yorkies and she has shock collars on them. They bark uncontrollably at passers by and the woman gives them a shock, which does absolutely nothing.

Even though they are irritating dogs I still feel very sorry for them.

Yes, very interesting read.

I know that video only used a stuffed dog, but it really upset me!

I would need to check it might not have happened yet, but i think there is new legislation on the use of them in the UK. I know they are illegal in wales.

I didn't like that at all, in my opinion it's the same with check chains, once that punishment is taken away and the dog thinks stuff this i'm off how do you control the dog. Someone i know uses check chain and i asked that question. He said the dog is well trained, yes he is while the punishment device is around his neck, as soon as the check chain was removed that dog did as he pleased and wouldn't come back for more punishment

Once a dog has been trained properly with a check you don't need to use one - in fact a check should only be used for training & not for general walking.

I would gladly love to use the shock collar all day long Haley on the heartless person that feels it's ok to do that to a dog

No need for an apology, as sad as it seems my last dog before cassie was the late 80's and collars check or shock would of been acceptable, but after reading this forum for a few months and looking at opinions educated me,so really a few months ago you would probably of been right Blushing
