Humping

ARGHH is it normal for my 11 week old to grab my forarm with his teeth (a bit too hard) then wrap his front legs round my forearm and hump the rest of ,my arm

But yes, it's normal. And no, it isn't really acceptable. I'd gently say "No" and push him away - distract him with a toy & a game.

What's funny to see in a sweet little pup isn't so funny with a 3.5 stone adult dog that humps the life out of anything & everything!

ok i was expecting him to be a bit older lol well He is biting my arm pretty hard so i say NO really firmly and he stops but then looks depressed so i feel guilty lol 24 hrs and he has me wrapped his paw, im not accepting the biting though my arm is stinging although obviously its playful but like you say as an adult it isnt funny.

Bacchus has been doing this since we got him at 9 weeks and still at it. He has to be told very firmly " No" or " Uh Uh" and either distracted with a toy or we stop any interaction until he calms down.
As Caryll says, what is comical in a 5 kilo puppy is not amusing in a full grown powerful dog ( or for that matter a 14 kilo Bacchus).

I think my Kuchar must be "weird". He is 12 months old this weekend and humping was one of things I was wary of, having never had a male dog before. But, he has only ever tried to hump once, and that was on a male visitor's leg who was a stranger to him - several months ago.

But, he often meets other male dogs (both entire and neutered) whilst on his walks, is always uber friendly and wanting to play, but he WILL ALWAYS dive under the other dog's body and lick at that dog's privates. Which is embarrassing!

I know this doesn't help you Mook, and you have good advice above re humping, just thought I'd share - I'm beginning to think my dog is a ... well ... a "man's man" so to speak.

Ha...how odd, biting and humping at the same time . Well yeah, it's normal but just tell him no and then try to distract him with a bit of playtime or something. Loki only ever used to hump is monkey teddy. The monkey teddy died a long time ago and now he doesn't hump anything. Just like all other behaviour, have to teach them it's not acceptable.

Loki does this with his best friend, a big Boxer x American Bulldog named Buster. Buster humps Loki, rather than be offended at this display of dominance, just calmly stands there like he's enjoying himself

Indeed. Even bitches will hump! Only training will stop it.

The dog at work does this and although he has never done it to me it looks quite painful especially when he digs his claws in

There were three dogs at a vet's office. The first dog asked the second one why he was there. He replied by saying, My owner has a really nice car and one day when he was taking me for a ride I just couldn't help myself I * all over the seats. The third dog said, "Well you see my owner likes to clean the house in the nude and one day when she was bending down to clean under the couch well I couldn't help myself; I jumped on her back and had sex with her!" The first and second dog said, "Well let me guess she brought you here to have you put to sleep, right?" The dog replied,

"Nope she brought me here to get my toe nails clipped."
