Hmmm, the son is in the teenage stage of life and may well be challenging his dad for top dog status. Who starts it? What starts it? Do they give any warning - does their body language change prior to attack? Any growling?

yea this is what i thought, well after introducing them back together the son (roofus)kept going up to him no tail up or anything but kept following him but trafford (father) kept walking away no growling he just turned and they were at it again,do you think muzzling them is the right thing to do until they sort it out,i have to take them to the vets to get checked out as they both have been injured

I would advise keeping them sperate for the time being and than slowly introducing them again. Perhaps starting with a long walk.

You may never get them back together again.
2 males together rarely works, and one of the reasons i will not let a male pup of mine go to a home that already has a male as its just going to end in tears once the pup comes of age as in your case.

If your home is big enough and allows for you to keep them in separate parts of the house then thats what your have to do, if not then i'm afraid the younger male needs to be rehomed as these fights are just going to get worse.

I don't think it will make any difference at to be honest. The only other thing you can do is seek the help of a behaviourist - your vet should be able to refer you to a good one in your area.

No, I'm afraid not. Although neutering may help to calm a dog down, it won't affect aggression, especially aggression related to hierarchy (pack position).

If it was me, I'd start to look for a new home for the youngster. Keeping them seperated within the same house would be very difficult indeed on a long term basis.

We can not help you on the forum to rehome your younger male.

But a word of advise check any new potential owners, you dont want your boy getting into the wrong hands.

Here's a list of rescue centres in the East Midlands. Sadly there are none in Beds (as far as I can see), but Northampton shouldn't be too far.

You may need to keep your youngster with you until the centre can match him to somebody, as their kennels are often full to brimming. Sad But please go through them, rather than attempting a private rehoming through advertising on the net etc. You really don't know who your dog might go to. Sad

I really wish that there was something else I could sugest, but as Denise said, once two staffords have fought, it's very difficult to stop them doing it again.
