Fuming

I need to have a rant...

My 16 year old son and Caley had just been out for a lovely walk together and play over the field, on their return an old gentleman walked past and said "Vicious Brute". My son actually turned around and asked him what he said to which he repeated that Caley was a vicious brute - how on earth he could tell that by a 13 week old tiny pup I don't know, I am rather proud of my boy as he then said to the man "have you ever owned a staffie" to which the man replied to him "No, but I have heard all about them"...Reece (my son) then said to him that he knows nothing and shouldn't judge them unless he owns one and proceeded to walk away...

On a good note, 5 mins beforehand a old lady was making a fuss of Caley, which Caley loved and got herself tangled around her legs, the lady laughed and told my son that was the best laugh she has had in ages..bless...then alongs comes stupid man..grrrr.

Good on your son for trying to educate the idiot. I'm really fed up with peoples ignorance too.

Try not to let it bother you and just take comfort in the fact the people are stupid when they let ignorance shine through

ugh just terrible, sorry that happened. hopefully if more people handle it like your son did and are being good responsible owners, the Staffy name will no longer be dragged through the mud.

I do wonder if it had been me or my OH walking her they might not have said anything...My son looks after her mostly during the day and he is doing an amazing job, so proud of the way he reacted though...not sure I would have been so calm lol

Tell your son to give himself a big pat on the back! His reaction, far more than your pup's temperament, will show that not all staffy owners are thugs/morons!

I'm sure that Caley will win most people over quite easily - the ones that won't listen aren't worth worrying about!

Good for your son. All we can do is change minds one encounter at a time, right? We always try to do just that.
