worming treatment
I have a question about wormer for puppies. I wondered if anyone has heard of a spray wormer for puppies. I've had animals my whole life and never heard of it but thought maybe it was something new. I had Bella at the vet to get her first injection yesterday and asked when she would be due to be wormed. when i told the vet she had been wormed the day I brought her home and the breeder gave her a spray wormer I got a raised eyebrow. The vet had never heard of it, and that Bella's tummy was a little swollen which could be worms. Got worming powder from her and to go back next week for more. Have to say I felt a bit daft when i got the raised eyebrow

I'm pretty forgetful too but the vet thankfully sends out a reminder when its due. Downside is the envelope has my name and address on the front and YOUR WORMER IS DUE in huge letters printed on the back lol

Re: worming treatment
I've got to say I've never heard of it, either! Having said that, pups should be wormed at 2 weeks, 5 weeks & 8 weeks, followed by monthly worming till 6 months & then 3 months, so another worming won't hurt!
Y'know I've never thought of that - my vet does the same! The postie must think I have worm problems!

Where do you spray it? On their coat, or on their tongue?
Before I got Violet she had been getting a syrup wormer, but now she just gets a tablet that also protects her against fleas.

Re: worming treatment
Syrup is often used with young pups - it's far easier to get it down them, especially at 2 & 5 weeks old!

They sprayed it on her tongue. I just found it strange as I'd only ever heard of the powder/tablets/paste. then with the look from the vet it made me very sceptical

Re: worming treatment
If it's just a syrup wormer in a spray decanter bottle, then that seems like quite a good idea. I remember the cat having to get a liquid medication, and it was given through a plastic (no needle) syringe into his mouth - a spray would have been much easier!

Re: worming treatment
It was probably a syrup which she squirted into the mouth instead of using a blunt syringe.
I wouldn't worry too much. As long as you're going to keep up to date with the worming, then there won't be a problem. It normally takes 4 or 5 wormings (2 weeks, 5 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks & 16 weeks) to get the all worms under control.
