We've collected Dora
We have our beautiful pup Dora! We collected her a few days early, so she is 7 and a bit weeks old.
She is being such a good girl already, she was brilliant in the car, she was great when we popped into Pets at Home to get her a collar fitted. we are sooo pleased! She is now comfortable in her crate, happily snoozing away.
She doesn't even seem to worry too much when we leave her on her own for a minute.
We are now hoping that her first night goes well, fingers crossed - I shall report tomorrow! And put a few pics up.

Re: We've collected Dora
She wasn't too bad for her first night. We settled her down in her crate about midnight, OH took her out about 3am, though she had already wet her newspaper. She did do a number two outside though. She then cried for about ten minutes when Ben came upstairs again. she did the same when we took her out about 6.30- cried for about 10 mins. When she had quietened we decided we were unlikely to get back to sleep so we got up and got her up. She was very lively and very pleased to see us!
I think I only got about four hours sleep in the end, so I'm quite tired now.
The house training isn't going to badly. All number twos have been outside so far. We have had a few number one accidents indoors but she is quickly getting the hang of going when we take her out.
One problem we are having is that our backdoor step is quite high, I think she is a bit scared of going in and out. I've had to keep picking her up to get her out, which i think she finds uncomfortable. Do you think we should make some kind of ramp or a smaller step to make it easier or should we just hope that as she gets bigger she'll get the hang of it?
As for the pics, I'll try and get on the computer later to do it. I'm flopped on the sofa which the iPad at he mo!

Re: We've collected Dora
She's so cute!
I wouldn't get a ramp or anything for your back step unless there's a chance she'll fall & injure herself. As she grows she'll become more confidant & she'll very soon get the hang of it.

She is so cute I wouldn't get a ramp either unless she could injure herself getting down. They have to learn to do things on their own so they gain confidence. Nothing wrong with helping her out until she gets it for herself just don't force her and she will soon be into places you never thought she would be.

Re: We've collected Dora
Thanks for you help guys, she is already getting more confident with the back door step.
She had her first trip to the vets today, and had her first jabs. She was very brave!
