antifreeze and dogs Empty antifreeze and dogs

Post by ratty Wed Sep 07 2011, 22:38

apologies if you are already aware of this,
just a quick warning to any members in the Wigan area,
it seems that some moron is going around adding antifreeze to puddles, thus poisioning any dogs that happen to have a drink from the affected puddles,
apparently the anti freeze causes a slow painfull shut down of the dogs organs and death,
just hope the lowlife in other areas don't copy this sad trick worried

This is something that dirt bags do over here as well. I regularly do a search of the the back yard daily to look for poison or anything some freak would toss over the fence to harm my dogs. It would be worth catching one of them in the act just to get my hands on them. >Smile bomb devil

Every year, always at the end of summer/beginning of autumn some bas*ard does this, somewhere.

How on earth anybody gets their kicks by poisoning animals I'll never know! I must admit, I don't allow Dempsey to drink from puddles if I can help it, but it isn't always easy to stop a quick slurp as you're walking along the road after some rain.

I am the same dont allow my dogs to drink from puddles, only water they are allowed is water I give them. If you let them drink from anywhere it could be contaminated by so many different things its just not worth it.

But yeah they are sick for doing that I really dont get how anybody could do such a thing.

i would like to think that this is just one of these 'urban myths', the stories that are always around but never really happen...

are there any reported cases of poisoned dogs? i mean the ones you're 100% sure of not gossips etc?

i understand that we all have to be very careful, but at the same time we can't believe in everything people say because we may end up going crazy.

i'm usually very suspicious myself anyway but would really like to believe that stuff like this is not happening too often...

Our local vet contacted police to put out a warning after he had 3 dogs in one week in because of it. It definitely wasn't a case of myth down here. It might have started that way, and some idiot heard it and decided to do it. Its absolutely disgusting, and these people are clearly not right in the head.

Myth or not, it will pay everyone to be vigilant regarding this ,
like yourself, i would hope that it is a myth,
but there are a lot of weird people on this earth who take delight in things of this nature (and worse),
and with our excuse for a legal system, if caught they will only get a slapped wrist over it anyhow,

I am well aware of the dangers of antifreeze and animals after learning it on a veterinary nurse course. But I am really shocked at this, I am disgusted that someone would add it to puddles to poison dogs. Surprised

I too don't allow Tinkerbell to drink from puddles, ponds etc but only because my sheepdog used to drink puddles, sea water and anything else he could. And despite me trying to stop him as best I could he still managed it sometimes and ended up with the runs!
