Very nice walk with some unpleasant experience in the middle
Had a nice walk on the hills with Mambo today. There's usually a lot of dogs and sheep there, so we keep Mambo on lead at all times, we just use a long rope so he can run around.
People are allowed to let their dogs off the lead everywhere on the hills.
we met a lady with a collie and a small terrier (possibly jack russel?) off lead. collie didn't bother, while the terrier run towards Mambo acting very aggressive, growling and obviously willing to fight... unfortunately he mamanged to come close and the fight broke up, although my OH kept Mambo on extremely short lead and backed off, the terrier jumped to Mambo.. and end up in his jaw... it looked very scary - Mambo actually grabbed the stupid dog in his jaws, and hold him like this above ground, so you could only see it's head and tail. My OH pulled Mambo so he let go off now screaming little ba**ard... he wanted to come back again (???!!) but fortunately my dad was holding a long stick (that he used to play with Mambo just few minutes before) so he used it to push the little dog back, and that's when the owner called him (bit late...) and said (to her own dog) that's he's stupid.
to be honest, it could've end up much worse, because the dog was tiny and very aggressive towards 10 times bigger and stronger Mambo...
another example that proves you have to keep aggressive dogs on the lead, doesn't matter the size and breed of the dog. they may be dangerous to themselves because of their stupid aggressive behaviour.
we continued our walk for few hours after that and it was very nice, we met a couple of other (much nicer and much wiser) people with their dogs but did not let Mambo to greet any because he was a bit nervous after his last encounter.
the walk was very nice after that, mambo played and run around a lot, especially his run down the hills was very spectacular, as he couldn't stop and end up at the very bottom of the hill (with my OH running after him, clutching the long lead ) very surprised at what has just happened
really nice day, just disappointed with some irresponsible owner once again. happy that it didn't end up badly, because it really could...

ooohhh i have just posted in the puppy chat section about a jack russel off lead while my lemmy was on lead and it went for his face. poor lemmy he had gone down all submissive ready to say hello and maybe play when the jack went for him. if i hadnt pulled on his lead to get him away it would have had his face. poor lemmy looked like he had been launched as he flew through the air i pulled that good. some people are just numpties. hope mambo ok though my lemmy's gone to bed hopefully to forget.

people should know their dogs and avoid such situations... this little one was running towards Mambo growling the moment he noticed we're approaching - the woman was just telling him to stop, obviously he didn't listen. she should jump and catch him/put him on lead.
the situation was very serious and Mambo could really hurt this little bugger...
Gem, I wish I recorded the run, but I couldn't I was just standing at the top of the hill laughing

yeh our little men are stereotyped and people say they are dangerous but there are nasty bad tempered dogs in all breeds today was jack russel. i had it last week with a border collie luckily i had been warned about it so knew to give it a wide berth.

did the owner warn you or was it just the dog 'known' from its aggression or sth?

I really dislike the yappy dogs. Just because a dog is small doesn't mean that it doesn't need to be trained.

we met another snappy one this morning. collie this time. fortunately on lead, the owner seemed to know how his dog is going to react...
the dog was so aggressive, it looked horrifying, like he wanted to tear us apart.
Mambo got very angry and started barking at the dog - it was the first time I heard him barking outside the house!
