My staffy nearly died
Hi all, just wated to let u know that my little guy Harley is in hospital overnight after he decided to see what a cane toad tasted like, thing is cane toads are deadly to dogs as they release a poison from their backs which causes, seizures, heart attacks and even death, have just got back from the vets where they have to put him on the most powerful drip available to flush out his system, his temp was 40 degrees C. I'm sorry worried about my little guy, my other dog is missing him as well.

Re: My staffy nearly died
Hi all, thanks for your messages, my little guy is home now, his temp came down last night and everything else was well, and he had a little girlfriend in the next cage for company, have to not less him stress or go for vigourous walks for 2 days and the Vet told me to keep him calm as the toxin could go through his system faster(won't be fully out for awhile) umm hello he's a staffy and Harley he doesn't do calm. I got him to the Vets in time other wise he could be dead now. The staff at the Vet surgery nicknamed him "Mr Happy" as he never stopped smiling, had to laugh when the Vet said she took him out for wees and he wouldn't go but got excited to be out in the fresh air, and when they got inside, he stood against her all excited and weed on her whoopsie sorry, i told her he only does that when he's really excited.
I missed him so much, i cried when i got home from the Vets, it was strange not having him nose his stuck under the blankets to get under them and not have him wake me up early, Mia missed him something crazy.

Re: My staffy nearly died
Believe me Warren i watch him like a hawk now, he goes to playu in the front yard and i can't see him so i go looking for him and he's doing his business and gives me the "can't i do my business in private how rude" look. He already met a blue tongue lizard which bit him on the nose and he flung it across the yard and it split in 2 oopsie, i'm just hoping that he'll stay away from snakes, especially the deadly brown ones, mind u i'll be moving away as fast as i can. I hope he's learnt his lesson now as well.
He's had his treats(bone & pigs ear) so he's contented.
