my boy nearly died today
horrific, He was out on the front green have a run as he does daily, i was chatting with my neighbour and all of a suddern i heard this horrible noise, went running over to him and he was MASSIVELY DISTRESSED, trying to get both paws in his mouth, and he clearly couldnt breathe properly
i got him back to my front gate, where by this time his head was at one side, not breathing properly, gagging, and so distressed it was horrfic, i then put him in my car to drive him to the vets as he was do distressed he wouldnt let us near his mouth, but i relised he would be dead by the time i got to the vets, basically a stick got stuck under his tounge, which had lifted his tounge ovee his airway, and hence he couldnt breathe, so i got my neighbour to grab him and his paws and had to pull as hard as i could 3 times to get it out, i had 3 figers inside his windpipe
then he took a massive breathe and went trotting off, my eyes were watering and i was shaking, my 6 year old was watching the whole time and was crying her eyes out
he hasnt left my side since but is totally fine now
seeing his so disstressed and unable to do anything for himself was awfull, one of my worse experiences in life, he was desperate to clear his throat
I know its hard but be carefull of tree branches/twigs, nearly lost me my boy today

Re: my boy nearly died today
Oh my gosh, you must have been absolutely terrified. So glad your boy is ok. They know how to scare the hell out of us dont they. It could have been so much worse, thank god he's ok. I hope your daughter is ok too, she must have been terrified too.

That bought a lump to my throat, well done on keeping calm and clearing the throat. Don't think I would be that quick on my feet.
I think I would be, as you probably are, still shaking. What a nightmare. Well done you

thanks peoples
It was simply a case of stand there and let him die in the most horrific way going, or grab hold him, pin him down as such and try clear his throat
as for lily, she didnt atuchally see all of it, i shouted at her to go in the house which i felt bad for shouting at her, but i didnt want her to see him in such distress or worse die like that. but she see enough to get her s upset

Bless her. Kids are very resilient, hopefully she'll be ok. Just thank god it was a happy ending, it could so easily have gone the other way. As janey said, well done you for keeping your head and for saving his life.

I hope it doesn't upset her too much.
That must have been terrifying. Never been it that situation before, but after reading your post maybe it has clued me up slightly.
