Our first one to one training (sorry a bit long)
Took Harry for his first one-to-one training a couple of days ago and I was very nervous, felt like I was starting school again. I really liked the lady trainer and have full confidence in her and she spent a lot of time talking to me and observing Harry, then we did some walking to heel (not sure whose heel though) and that sort of stuff. It was a proper dogs school and dog paradise. Harry was very anxious so we didn’t push him too far as he gets very stressed when out of his comfort zone and away from familiar places, though he is fine at home. She felt this was because I wasn’t able to socialise him enough as a puppy. By this I mean taking him out in the wide wide world, not just meeting other dogs, he did that. She says he is young enough at just 3 to overcome it. Anyway, we go back again in 2 weeks and I have promised to take him out in the car somewhere different every day until then.
Today we walked around Wells in Somerset first through the park where some boys were playing football, got him past them without him stealing their football – quite an achievement. Passed lots of families with dogs and children out walking round the Cathedral and Moat and he was a good boy. Only thing is walking to heel was a big struggle, he put his head down, bum in the air and pulled like a carthorse, yet in our village he walks like the perfect dog! Did sit for me when asked though, even when distracted by all that was going on. A little jack Russell ran over to introduce himself and when I saw he had a tennis ball in his mouth I was a bit worried because Harry loves them, but there was no aggression or problems. A lot of people were amused at me walking and constantly saying good boy heel, good boy heel. We have a long way to go, my aim is to be able to take him with me everywhere I go and to have a holiday together later this year, and I now feel happy that we are going to be able to do it.
Thanks for reading I hope I haven’t waffled on too much.

Great stuff Harry sounds to have made great progress after just one sesion, and the trainer sounds great, positive training imo is the best way to get them too learn. I think you'll suprise yourself how quickly things catch on, they can be quite clever (at times!). Keep us updated with the how the training goes, and when you more condident, some more pics would be nice
