Long training lead
Anybody recommend a good place to buy one of these, thought I'm going to give it a go with Tommy instead of a flexi lead and think it may prove it's worth in Cornwall as we hope he is going to be a water baby. Just thought I'd ask as I know a few have them.
Was thinking 10-15 meters , what do you use ??

Re: Long training lead
I would think e-bay or amazon. I think the one we have is about 10 meters or so

Re: Long training lead
Only thing about Ebay is sometimes the quality isn't that good , we were thinking if someone already had bought a good one then that's the best way to go, the material is pretty stable and won't really change but it's more the manufacture of the retaining clip etc that I would be concerned about , expecially if we let him wander in the sea

Re: Long training lead
I use a 15M line that I got from ebay. It wasn't expensive

Re: Long training lead
Is this the kind of thing you mean. We have one for Rocky, they are a bit harsh on your hands though and you may need some sturdy gloves:

Yes, they can be, I've had a few burns off mine - and also don't let him run around someones legs while he's wearing it or he can cut them!
This is the one I brought

Re: Long training lead
superb , thanks Kathy , little bit shorter but 10 metres is probably more then enough , in stock so will probably pop and get one, need a harness as well but I'm going to wait until he's a week or so older as I hope he'll be big enough then to fit Tilly's starter harness as I don't think he will be in it for too long

Re: Long training lead
I'll post a link to it in the Tried & Tested section so anyone else can then find it easier.

Re: Long training lead
Dave, try one of these....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30ft-Long-Softex-Training-Tracking-Recall-Dog-Leads-/390281291705?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Dogs&var=&hash=item5ade93e7b9
They're made from Softex which is a sort of woven material. Much softer on your hands than webbing, but extremely strong! I use the 80" lead for Dempsey & the one I've had for over a year is still going strong despite the fact that he's a strong puller at times (lunges with his full weight towards dogs he doesn't like, or dogs he does like) and occasionally uses it as a tug toy (without permission!).

Re: Long training lead
Thanks peeps I think I may go for the softex 1 , I suppose 30' really is more than adequate , the little monkey hasn't taken all my savings yet so still a little money in the puppy fund (after I've bought a first aid kit for Tilly and a muzzle for Tommy )
