Your Dog(s) Photos
If someone used your dog(s) photos without permission in a teaching video what would you do?
Re: Your Dog(s) Photos
Dont think I would be bothered really to be honest, it depends though would need to see the outcome to give a solid answer but doub I would really be bothered.
Re: Your Dog(s) Photos
Thats sounds fine, though again would depend on the outcome really. If it was highlighting any non standard issues of a dog like Dukes big floppy ears that would be dissapointing to see that.
I do hope his ears sort them self out as he gets older lol. (I am hoping he just needs some more time for the cartlage to build up some more strength)

Re: Your Dog(s) Photos
I don't think it would bother me in the least as long as it wasn't an attempt to portray the breen in a negative manner. We let Suki play off leash alot and we've taken a few photos where her and her playmates look quite vicious with both dogs showing their teeth. In reality this is simply harmless play. If I saw this used to potrary the breed in a negative light I'd be quite upset and would let my opinion on the matter be known.
If it is something used to show how loving and dedicated the breed is and how they can interact positively with other dogs and people I would have no issues at all.

I said "Send a email demanding all your photos to be removed straight away," but I wouldn't necessarily ask them to remove the photos. I would ask them to credit me.

Re: Your Dog(s) Photos
I know that you mean well in your video and your video is completly harmless but...................
The trouble is someone will take a photo of a good dog say at a show and post up on the internet with no protection and although seem petty that photo can get into the wrong hands it can be used to advertise pups say for instance.
Now green carpet is crufts and thats imediate to see them photos could potentially be upsetting to the owner.
Its happened to us people have e-mailed asking for information as they have a puppy from us but thats not the case its someone putting up copied pics of sires and dams to sell pups.
So I can see why they would be upset as although they like to show off there dog they also want to protect it too.

If people are worrying about things like that i dont think they should add anything to the net, when you add anything to net private or on a public websites, forum or whatever bots will find and use it,
So you dont have much control of any of your photos when you add them to the website some people think they do but they just dont understand the net.

Re: Your Dog(s) Photos
I dont understand the net steve its mind boggling to me and I agree if you put up photos then you are asking for it I suppose but it would be imposible for a owner to stop people posting them.
It was upsetting to tell the owners of the puppy that made contact with us that in fact it wasnt related and they were very upset too.

I'd rather to be asked first, and then I would certainly agree.
As a photographer I'm rather careful with these things.

Exactly its really not worth worrying about as you say anything on the internet can be copied thats the nature of the internet, I have built many websites and do SEO and internet marketing for a living so know exactly what you mean.
Yeah copyright exists but its near enough impossiable to control, unless you happen to come accross it then you can often get something done by contacting the sites host explaining whats happened and get the site closed down if the site owner does not want to play ball, or if its a user on a site then contact the site owner asking for something to be done often resolves the problem.
But uless its something really bad not worth the hassle generally.
Re: Your Dog(s) Photos
id prob not mind it... hope fully it be used for the good and not the bad...

Re: Your Dog(s) Photos
My hubby has this response, he is pro photographer
"When you put a photo on the web, you should say what rights are assigned.
For the most part personal use should be no problem - someone who wants to just put the pic on their desktop or something similar doesn't even enter the equation, as long as they did not pay for it, or pay for access to it.
For anyone using it in non-profit organisations for teaching, then a credit is the least you could expect - these are rights, not favours.
If anyone makes any money, then you should make some money unless you specifically state that there is an open-licence on the shot.
I know it seems a bit picky, but photography costs. Pro photographers spend a fortune on equipment and expect some recompense. Commercial users of photography know the worth of a picture, so invoicing them is not something that should surprise them."
