Submissive Lola?
Lola has always been quite a confident dog, played well with other dogs etc etc.
But the last couple of weeks she has been really timid and scared of other dogs.
We were out tonight with a couple of dogs she knows, and she wouldn't play and when they came near her she would cower and her tail would be right underneath her.
She had a couple of incidents where dogs and a bitch has tried to hump her. But she seemed like it a while before hand so can'gt put it down to that, I don't know.
I understand she may just be naturally submissive, but she seems very scared, especially when they smell her behind.
It is worrying me as I don't want her to be a scared dog, fair enough if she is going to be a submissive dog, but this seems different.
She did start lying on her back when dogs came over to play, but doesn't do that now she just cowers and her tail goes under.
i feel so sad for her as i don't understand why she is doing this and I so much want to help her.
Is it something I'm doing wrong?
She is confident in the house and when we are alone together, she doesn't dominate me, she just seems balanced.
I intend to introduce another dog soon, either an older rescue or a pup, but obviouslyh want this sorted before i do.
I don't want to make the mistake of adding another dog to see if it makes her more confident as it could have the opposite effect.
she has never been to puppy classes, just socialised while out on walks. do you think this would be a good idea?

Re: Submissive Lola?
I asked that in another thread as I am not sure, could she be so soon after her first one which was end of May in to June.

Re: Submissive Lola?
It's possible. Their temperament can change coming into a season, and it isn't unheard of to get a 'split' season. Is she showing any other signs?

That's the thing, it's not swollen at all.
Took her out today again and kept on lead and she is getting sniffed a lot.
i didn't think she would be in season again so soon and was hoping to have her done after her first one which would of been 3 months August, but was going to wate till September, but now if she is coming into season i will have to wait again

Re: Submissive Lola?
The first season is often a bu*ger! If it is a split season, then it probably won't last long, and you might still be able to go ahead with spaying in September. Have a quick word with your vet.

Thanks Caryll. I'm going to get in touch with them tomorrow and see what they say. I can't wait to have it done now.
