As far as I know they are banned by the way.
I dont agree with it and I dont think and breed should be banned but unfortunatly its the way it is and personally I would not consider getting a dog knowing its banned. I would hate for something to happen to my dog and its quite likely owning an Irish Staff that its going to get taken off you at somepoint.

Re: irish staffy?
Irish are not real pit but they are similar so they will fall into "Type" so they are a ban dog

Re: irish staffy?
Unless you want your dog to be seized as a pit bull type, then don't get one.
These are what is being called 'old tyme' or 'old style' staffs. They are not kennel club registered and are therefore not staffordshire bull terriers. They are cross breeds, mainly crossed in the past with pits. The only registry is the IKC (International Kennel Club) which was set up almost exclusively to register these, and other non-recognised dogs.
If the police stopped you, you wouldn't have a leg to stand on. The way the police look at it is that the name is an excuse to carry on breeding pit bulls.

Re: irish staffy?
Irish staffs are not american pitbull terriers but may be siezed by the ridiculousness that is the dda. They look like staffies, just thinner, more 'athletic', leggier staffies. They call to mind the bull lurcher. I have met irish staffies several times, lovely typical staffish friendly personalities.

These are bred from game lines, not show dogs.

Re: irish staffy?
looking at the website these breeders seem pretty unprofessional anyway, they have an announcement saying there computer was f****d up, what kind of a business would put that kind of language on their professional website.

I also prefer my dogs wrinkly and muscular not lean and wirey. They say pets are like their owners? Dunno what that makes me...

Re: irish staffy?
Cant understand myself why pay good hard earned money to somebody for a poor bred dog with no health tests, no pedigree so you dont know whats gone into making that dog.
What is so annoying to me is that there are people out there who are breeding staffies as they should be that conform to legal types.
Then there are people who are breeding purposely to be out of legal type and calling them staffies its so wrong.
We want the staffie as it should be and anything other than that does not deserve to share the name.
This is the reason the stafford is so misunderstood and persicuted today by buying into that you are continuing to persicute what you claim to love.
My advise would be stay well clear irish staff is a mixture of who knows and if you want a type then the rescues are full of them unwanted and unloved

Irish Staffordshire Bull Terriers are cross breeds. Now, I've nothing against cross breeds, they are beautiful dogs in the main & give people a loving companion for the whole of their life. But what I do have a 'down' on is people who pass these dogs off as pure bred. There is no such official breed called the Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
The dogs that are advertised as such are not full staffs & so shouldn't be called that.

Re: irish staffy?
Nice looking dogs but would not pay lots of money for them.
I prefer on a whole the staffords of yester year but a good bred short staff is just as good in my opinion.
