Re: which is the best food for my dog
Its a very debatable topic that really.
Personally I prefer giving my dogs fish4dogs a dry kibble with some salmon oil on it for their coats, joints and skin. We also get all our treats from them too.
But I know alot of people on here feed their dogs a raw diet and they swear by it. Personally I dont trust myself to make sure I get it right, seems alot of work to make sure that you dog gets a well banaced diet with all the vitamins and minerals it needs to be healthy.
James well beloved is also a good dry food, we used to use that before switching to fish4dogs. Wainwrights is good, Burns is good. Really want to look for a natural food without any addatives coulouring ect. Try to make sure what type of meat is used some of them are actually just ground up leftovers basicly called meal, the main protine source should be actual meat not meal or derivative.

Basic rule of thumb if they have adverts on the TV and its a big name brand steer clear it will be full of adatives colouring ect and all sorts of horrible stuff to fill it out on the cheap.

Hi!
I personally feed raw and would now never go back to feeding kibble but thats down to personal choice, it doesn't suit everyone or every dog!
Have a look at this list it has some really good food suggestions!

Re: which is the best food for my dog
I've tried many different diets for our crew over time... Used to feed all raw, then switched to a cooked home-made diet after one of our dogs got cancer and I didn't want to risk raw on a weakened immune system. Nowadays I'm too busy at work to home-cook for six dogs so I feed a mixture of Naturediet wet foods, Acana and Orijen kibbles and a cooked frozen formula, which I think is only available here in Finland. Our dogs have done great on all of the above
