We're taking in a rescued cat
.. well at least as a test. His name is Casper and he's deaf. My friends originally wanted to adopt him, but he was quite active. I suggested they get another cat to keep him company, and they did, but they got a very quiet little girl that didn't much want to play.. So now we've promised to test if Casper will get along with our boys. I'm sure Hyssy would love a buddy to play with, and he's very friendly and confident and loves dogs so perhaps Gummi will even get a kitty to play with him. That would be great. He's a very friendly cat and was found on the street as a kitten by a friend of my friends, who just doesn't have enough time for him.
Fingers crossed it works out! I'm a little ambivalent.. Hope it doesn't just turn into a lot of work AND a kitty with fluffy furs.. LOL.. Will post pix once we get him sometime next week.

Hope it all works out well for you and "Casper" Will he be an indoor cat? You'll need to be extra vigilent with him being deaf, but i'm sure that won't stop him from being a great pal.
My boy "Tom" is a rescue, and I would be soooooo lost without him.
Can't wait for pics.

Re: We're taking in a rescued cat
He's your regular white short haired housecat. Just dawned on me that this cat eats kibble.. AND he uses regular cat sand in his litter box, which isn't strange, but it's not what we use so that will be some work, too. I could always use sand in an emergency, but kibble isn't an option. We use wood shaving pellets (for pellet ovens) for the kitties, it's so handy to be able to flush their poop down the toilet. Not as important anymore, though, was more important when living in a tiny apartment and not wanting to keep running out with bags of cat poop/pee.
