My good deed :)
Driving home from work this evening...after a fair drive and only a few minutes from home, I could see a small figure moving on the road ahead of me. As I got closer I saw that it was a small dog ( Silky Terrier type ) but it was trotting along down the middle of the lane of on-coming traffic. It was on a busy road which is used by many including large trucks and the like.
I pulled over to the side of the road and crossed over to near the dog. He stepped off the road and came straight to me. I picked him up ( he was very friendly ) and checked for a collar and tag.....Yay, His name was Max and I phoned the number on his tag and spoke to his owner who was very thankful and gave me his address. When I pulled up the driveway and carried Max out , his owner came over and Thanked me, and gave me a bottle of wine for bringing him home safely ( I don't drink wine ) We had Storm warnings forecast for this evening...and as I dropped him off home the thunder and lightning started.
I was just happy to get him safely home, and I hope that somebody would do the same for me if my Roxy was ever to escape her confines and end up on the roads.
I hope you all have collars and I.D. tags on your beloved doggies "just in-case" and even better than that....micro-chip.

wow well done Lisa..I bet so many people would have just kept driving and beeped their horns at it. How far was Max from home?? You are indeed an angel !!
I once saw a dead cat on the side of the road and it had a collar on. I stopped and checked and saw there was a disc with a name and phone number on it. So I phoned the number and said do you own a cat called.. ( can't remember the name ) and she said "Yes I have been looking for him..do you know where he is??' and she was so excited. I had to break the bad news to her .... she started crying..so did I !! But she thanked me and was going to go and pick up his body and give him a decent burial. It was sad but I was glad I phoned her ..at least she had peace of mind.. Your story had alot happier ending!!

That must've been very hard to do Vanessa, but I have to say I would have done the same too.
I would much rather get a pet home safely than keep driving and just leave it.

Yeah I always think if it was my pet I would like to know where he is..whether good or bad.
To lose a pet and then never find them would be horrific.. the not knowing..
