Just walking back from taking bruno for his walk, and stop to chat to a friend who also got a male staffy, he said that bruno looks like hes got pittbull in him, I said no he is pure staffy, his parents are both pure staffy,so how can he have pittbull in him

People who know more about your (breed of) dog are always amusing. I had a guy insist that Bajas (3 yrs at the time) was a boxer puppy. Those boxers sure mature slowly!

Haha I have the same problem I usually get that harv has either pitbull or American bulldog in him!

so inother words you dog is or will be a bigger fuller staffy than his so straight away it must have pit in him i got this alot when my boy was growing up because he was a chunky pup its a joke

As someone said on another forum today - common sense ain't very common.

I've been guilty of this in the past! I've seen alot of "youths" walking round with dogs they call staffies, that have very long legs! It's quite obvious when you look at them, that something along way hasn't been quite right. In the UK, unless your dog has full K.C papers and a pedigree, then you only have the word of the person you are buying it from. For all they know they may believe they are selling pure staffies, but the truth is that without a full pedigree you really never know what has gone on in the past.

It may seem pedantic, but when we were looking for Baxter I did research on the characteristics of "true" staffie, just to make sure. According to wikipedia "The dogs stand 36 to 42 cm (14 to 17 in) at the withers and weigh 14 to 18 kg (31 to 40 lb) for males; bitches are 11 to 15.4 kg (24 to 34 lb)."

Wiki also states that the Pit Bull breed ranges from a height of about 14 to 24 in (36 to 61 cm) at shoulders, and weighs between 30 and 60 lb (14 and 27 kg).

I actually took a tape measure and had a look at his mums height to make sure. If she had been any higher than 17" at her shoulders then I would have walked away. In the end though I did not need it. The breeder presented his mums K.C papers and showed them to us. I didn't mention why I was asking, but I enquired after his dad and they were very honest and told us that the dad was a little shorter than the mum, but that he wasn't a K.C registered pedigree dog. Common sense would indicate that his dad was more than likelyalso pure staffie, given his height was slightly lower anyway. That was enough to convince me we were OK with our purchase.

People will always have an opinion and whether right or wrong will no doubt will want to share it with you! At least if we have the facts and figures to hand, we can take great pleasure in telling them they are wrong! A sort of smiling way of sticking two fingers up at them !!!!
