New Staffy, new member.

Hi everyone. I'm Jay.

We brought home our new staffy pup on Monday and found this forum on Monday night.

Our new pup's name is Baxter, or to give him his full name Baxter Hamilton Clegg. I was thinking of givin him a full title of Sir Baxter Hamilton Clegg, Esq. But I think that may be a little pretentious!

He's a cracking little staffy, he's joined a good family with 2 young boys. We live in a rural area with lots of countryside to explore and excercise in. He's only 5 minutes away from his sister as well, so all in all - I think he will be very happy.

Baxter is the hairy one. It had been a long day for him!! And for Hayden who was equally tired but very excited!

hahahah Full introductions then. Hayden is on the left, he's nearly 5. Myles in on the right, he's just gone 3. I'm in the middle - lets not go there. Baxter is the rather gorgeous bundle of fur in my hand!!

Yes it certainly looks like little Baxter has come to live with a wonderful happy family... he is a lucky ( and gorgeous !! ) puppy!!

Many thanks for the kind words and welcomes. So far our experiences having Baxter have been very enjoyable. If he carries on like this he is going to have a very happy life with us. Hayden and Myles now have the 6 week holidays to learn some of the responsibilities for owning a dog, and to enjoy the fun of having a staffy pup to play with.

The credit for this has to go to Kat my partner, she's a very good mum and it seems her parenting skills extend to puppies as well. She is doing most of the hard work, with both puppy and childen!!

A quick update on Baxter's progress............

It's going amazingly well!!!!

He has settled in really well. He's great around Hayden and Myles and so far isn't fussing around people when they visit. He is spending a decent amount of time with Ellie (his sister), and they are getting on well together. His puppy potty training is going great, last night was the first night with absolutely no accidents!!

He is OK with lots of people around him, but he is also OK if he is left alone for a little while. I honestly don't think we could be any happier with his progress. He's getting lots of love and reward, but that is also balanced with discipline for any misdemeanours. We can't wait for him to have had his jabs so we can take him out walking!
