New to the site.
Hi everyone. Approximately 2 weeks ago we had to put our female staffy down. We had her since she was 7 weeks old. She was 15 when the vet came to our home to put an end to her suffering.
We decided almost immediately that we would get another Staffy. There have been a lot of offers for males and a few females but we are looking for a red or fawn bitch to make the house a home again.
We just took in an Amstaff that we are babysitting for a few months until his owner can get back on his feet.
We have almost 5 acres for a dog to roam that is fenced in.
If anyone knows of a pup that fits our description please contact either me,Bob or my wife Diane.
We are glad we found this site so we can meet fellow staffy owners.

Re: New to the site.
Thanks all, She was a joy and gave us a lot of pleasure. We thought about rescuing here in the states but since we sort of rescued the AmStaff for our friends son we realized it is much easier to train from a pup. Plus with rescuing we can't find the girl we are

Re: New to the site.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your loyal friend. Sounds like she was a wonderful family member. It is so hard to raise a pet like it's your child and then have to watch it age so much faster then you. She was lucky to have a home like yours.
Whereabouts in South Florida do you live? You have to be careful about where you go with the AmStaff and your future Stafford because of the BSL in Miami-Dade County.
Staffords are hard to find in rescue in the US, but there are a lot of APBT/AmStaff mixes in rescue all over the country! There are even litters popping up in shelters all the time. If you really have your heart set on a Stafford, you could always check craigslist or Uncle Henry's before heading to a breeder. I found my Saxon when he was 5 months old on Uncle Henry's. He's a pure bred Stafford that became too much for his original family. If you do end up going to a breeder make sure they are a responsible and ethical breeder. There are a LOT of BackYard Breeders here in the US and they are a real problem. Where ever you end up finding her, I hope you can find the perfect pup for your family! Sorry for the mini rant!

Hi & welcome to the forum.
So sorry to hear about poor Mugsy. At 15 years old, she'd obviously had a really good life with you and I'm sure she'll leave you with so many wonderful memories.
If you feel up to it, we'd love to see some pics of her!

Re: New to the site.
We are in Palm Beach and have already been in touch with a bunch of breeders. We never would buy from a backyard or pet store. We are responsible dog owners and we would only buy from responsible breeders who ask questions because they care. Our problem is because we are being specific as to gender and color that it is taking longer then expected. We thought we were getting a girl from our original breeder but it seems that the coupling didn't take. Thanks for your help.CatStina wrote:I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your loyal friend. Hi and welcome.
The photos of Mugsy brought a tear to my eye.. she looked like an old darling... what a sad time that must have been in your life.
My staffy Jethro is 12 and I love him more than life itself. We just recently got a staffy puppy Winston.. he is now 17 weeks old.. and wow does he keep us on our toes !!

Glad to hear you know what you are doing! It does make it harder when you are more specific about what you want. Once you find her, though, the whole process will have been worth it. Good luck!
Your sweet Mugsy was an absolutely beautiful girl!
