Doggy playmates

Hi there all........

I took Roxy to the dog park again today and there were all-sorts there again which is great for socialising and playing / burning off all that Staffy energy.

Roxy LOVES meeting ALL new people and dogs but always seems to be drawn to dogs of her size or smaller, and is very submissive with larger dogs and just stops, drops and rolls until she has time to "introduce" herself. She seems to have a real soft-spot for beagles At Puppy school when she was teenie-tiny her fave playmate was a Beagle, then at dog traing she would play with a Beagle and now at the dog park if there is a Beagle or two there she will make a bee-line towards them.

Does anybody elses dog have a preference for size or breed when socialising????

We rarley meet many other dogs which is a shame, so she isn't very dog oriantated. When she does she likes ones that will 'spar' with her so generally terriers, of a similar size to her. She picks and chooses though cause she'll play wil ones much smaller or bigger if she is in the mood Xx

Woody will play with anyone! although he does drool when a rottweiler walks past! he also likes to terrorise small white fluffy ones!

kaos loves all dogs no matter what size or breed as long as they are friendly to him if they snap or bark he gets scared lol. Ty is better off with dogs of a similar size and needs a dog that is a bit grumpy who will put him in his place. Big dogs he gets little man sydrome and small yappy ones he just wants to eat and dogs who are too nice he will just take advantage of. x

Molly will play with any dog really, but she does have a special friend a german shepherd.

My Dizzy is pretty similar to your Ty. He mixed well with all sorts of dogs and breeds of all shapes and sizes until he was just over a year old. He then took a bit of disliking to small fluffy dogs and ones that squeal when playing, as he thinks this is very exciting and we get a bit OTT sometimes so I have to watch him carefully around small or squeaky dogs. He does listen though if another dog puts him in his place, but at the same time if apprehended he will most certainly defend his own!!

He has his good friends (2 black labs - one a puppy - golden lab, springer and another staff) though that he goes out with regularly and he is very good with them. I think once he gets to know other dogs I can trust him more with them.

Tilly likes all dogs but was a bit unsure of a horse of a Doberman called bonsai.

Harvey will play with anyone, and is very submissive he does the drop and roll while they say hello then they are off and playing, although his best friends are a rottie and a jack russel

We meet lots of dogs on our walk he got loads of doggie buddys especially smaller dogs it is funny because they all surrender to him there is a border terrier, jack russel, standard poodle and a chuhauha (dont know how u spell it lol) and believe it or not the chuhauha is the bully lol right cocky little thing

Vinnie will play with any dog .. his more weary of the taller dogs but after a few seconds realises they mean no harm and plays around .. Skye will play with little dogs but waits for her big bro to comfort her with bigger dogs lol bless her!, she will stand still so vinnie will walk up to her an then walk her over to the dog its so sweet!

Suki meets all kinds and will play with them all. We are very carefull when she plays with a smaller breed. There is a beagle pup that she is espically fond of but her best friend is a Husky.
