Polly was Spayed yesterday
Polly was spayed yesterday and all went very well and she was home by 5pm. Last night after crying a lot and wanting to cuddle into either myself or OH she eventually slept on our bed so that we could get some sleep. She cried a lot in the night so not a lot of sleep for me, OH sleeps through anything
This morning she woke up full of the joys of life as normal, I am supposed to be keeping her calm, only walking her around the garden on her lead to do her business and not letting her jump onto anything she was off our bed and down the hall like a rocket this morning, went under one of our other dogs in her race for the garden, did a huge pee and loose poo and then shot back inside and jumped up onto the sofa before trying to disembowel her teddy......... Short of locking her in her cage does anyone have any ideas what I can do to keep her calm and still?????
From what I can remember of getting our last bitch spayed many years ago, she moped around for days and just slept a lot but she was a greyhound so maybe they are different

I'm affraid I agree, there loons, your going to have to be extra vigilant and try to stop her from jumping up, they bounce back so quickly (excuse the pun!)

LOL Janey they just don't stop bouncing....... she is huffing about at the moment and sulking big time. OH has just taken the other dogs out for their morning rabbit chase and run around the fields and she can't figure out why we are still here. I can see the next week or so is going to be very interesting

Re: Polly was Spayed yesterday
Roxy was spayed last month and was back to her energetic self after a day or so too. Although we were told to keep her calm, it was very hard with a young Staffy. We did'nt take her for walks but she still wanted to play with her toys in the back yard. We let her go for it, but just kept an eye on her .

Re: Polly was Spayed yesterday
I have given her a big bone to knaw on and that is working for now but I'm going to put her crate in the living room and make her stay in there later, I need to rest even if she doesn't, she kept me awake most of the night. At least our other dogs are worrying about her and not playing the way they normally do. They just keep licking and trying to cuddle her She isn't wearing a buster collar as she has no interest in her wound at all, so I suppose that might have calmed her down a little.. maybe

Don't know a way to kep them calm. We didn't do long walks but let her chase her ball in the house and yard and very brief games of tug. As long as she doesn't bust a stitch she should be okay. They recover remarkably fast. Best of luck.

Vinnie was like this when he was neutered, obv its a bigger op for spaying but he was racing round like a loon from the moment we got him home!! lol .. to the point he would either have to go in his crate or have a bone to make him sit still lol!.
they are little loon's!! lol

Re: Polly was Spayed yesterday
Well she is now in her cage in the living room, it was a bit of a fight to get her to go in there, but she has finally stopped giving me the "sad eyes" and gone to sleep with her teddy.
Last night when we bought her home she wouldn't go to her cage but went straight to our bedroom to hide, I think after leaving her in a cage at the vets yesterday she has gone off hers.
Hopefully she will remember she does really like her den and start to trust it again These dogs are such determined characters, and I thought my daughter was stubborn

Re: Polly was Spayed yesterday
Awww maybe give her some treats while she is in there, make her see it as her being in there is only just to relax and doze off

Re: Polly was Spayed yesterday
Yes I'll do that once she wakes up, she has got her teddy, her blanket and a nice new bone in there, but she turned her back on me in a tantrum and went to sleep so will let her sleep for a while now and then she can have some fuss later
