Newbie to the forum .. Hello!
Hi, just thought I would say a quick hello as i'm a newbie to this forum.
We adopted Bella 8 months ago and she has totally enhanced our lives she's 2 next month.
My wife and I toyed with the idea of getting a dog for years and finally decided the time was right as our two sons have grown up and we have the time and money now to give a dog a good home and to be honest its the best move we've ever made.
Bella is a fantastic girl, very loving and affectionate and hasn't a bad bone in her body. We would be lost without her around.
I do have a question if anyone can help please?
Bella is suffering badly with her back legs (mainly her rear left leg). For example after we've taken her on a walk she comes home and limps like she has a dead leg. She lifts it off the ground and hops on 3 legs most of the time. We've taken her to the vets and they have recommended a scan if it gets worse and to be honest I think it is because I cant take her for a walk without her getting home, resting, then limping badly? However the next day after she has rested over night she seems fine again until we go for another walk across the local downs.
She's had all her jabs, spayed, wormed, fleed, insured and microchipped....any help?
Many Thanks

It does sound like hes got the same problem as my sam, he had a bone growing into joint & ripped most of his ligaments, if your vets cant fix the problem theres a vet in nottingham that is best joint specialist in the uk, i dont know if you want to travel all that way.
http://www.buckleyhousevets.co.uk/about-buckley-house/
people from as far has scotland goto him becasue hes that good, I wish i'd gone to him first becasue my local vet didn't have a clue what was wrong i had x-ray after x-ray i must spend 100s, But after a while i decided i will have to go to someone who works on joints all the time and my vet recommended this vet.
Re: Newbie to the forum .. Hello!
Don't know if this will help but what your describing that happens to your dog is very very similar to what would happen to my Rottie after a walk.. But he was only 7 mnths old when he would start to limp and be in discomfort with his front left leg...
After many x-rays and alot of visits to the vet .. my vet decided to send him to a specialist in joints and straight away he diagnosed him as having OCD (osticondrosis !! think thats how you spell it) .. He had a chipped piece of bone floating next to his knee joint which was successfully removed and was the best thing to happen to him as he was a different dog after that..
We were told he would probably get arthritis around 5 yrs of age so to put him on Gloucosamine & Chondrotin tabs ( we done that several wks after his op and he never suffered with any leg problems since being put on them tabs)...
Hope this is of any use to you and fingers xd you get her leg sorted..
P.S... Hiya and welcome to the best staffy site EVER.. From Sue & Inca xx
