Thumbs up/down command Empty Thumbs up/down command

I was advised to use this command on Blake by the behaviourist, and it is an amazing tool

Basically if the dog is doing something your happy with it's thumbs up, and unhappy thumbs down

Blake & Chloe got the thumbs up pretty much straight away.... Thumb up.... Treat...... So now they know if they get the thumbs up they will get a treat... It's like yes good boy/girl

Thumbs down is a bit harder... Does something wrong thumbs down and ignore and walk away...... Thumbs down is now taking effect on Blake's mouthing, he is also learning not to jump in Chloes face with it. Chloe is also learning this command, like when she growls at Blake thumbs down stops her

I know Blake is using this with his deafness, but it could be useful for a hearing dog too. It's better then screaming no at them all the time

Im finding this all so interesting....its a real insight! All of the things u have posted could be really useful for everyone on hear. Espeacially for dogs who cant be walked due to operations etc it would really tire them out! x

Just think this command could maybe help with mouthing etc in pups, it helps with the crate also put Blake in thumbs up = No crying or barking

It's funny, but a near-tragedy has actually turned into something really positive.

Sue, you're a star!

Apparently thumbs down is to show displeasure so it can be used in a number of situations.... Like if you come home and they have chewed the carpet... Thumbs down tells them your unhappy with their handy work.. If they snatch food, are aggressive to other dogs.... And Thumbs up shows your pleased, so if they are walking by your side thumbs up gets them to continue with the behaviour, it really is a handy tool.....
