As rest and canine osteopathy had not helped, took Opium to the vets tonight.
Xrays confirmed damaged ligament so her file has been sent to orthopedic specialist for referral
Surgery is not urgent but inevitable.
Any recommendations for good chondroitin/glucosamine supplement gladly received

Re: Referral
Should have more news at the beginning of next week.
Have ordered some YuMove for both girls (tailored for each) and had already booked Nifty in for an osteo check on Thursday

Re: Referral
It's certainly helping her, unfortunately she managed to graze her pads sometime last week so I have been giving her short walks & now she has another cyst appear between her toes. Waiting to hear if the vet will re-prescribe the tablets he gave her in December

I had an email back from the vets this morning & Katy's antibiotics will be ready to pick up tomorrow Trouble is she doesn't like those tablets! Any other tablet she will just take off me & eat, these have to be hidden really well

Re: Referral
My regular vet called today to ask how Opium was getting on.
Since she’s been taking anti inflammatory pain killers, I’d almost say she’s a little worse and hops on both hind legs.
Vet confirmed that orthopedic vet would need further xrays so I’ll ring for an appointment tomorrow.
On a positive note, orthopedic vet is very highly recommended and the yumove arrived today.
Baby steps forwards

Rang for appointment today. Vet is on holiday so Opium goes to see him in a fortnight. We started the Yumove today and I’ve decided to stop the prescription medication which is not helping at all.

There's certainly no point in giving her drugs that make her worse! Hopefully Yumove will make a difference

Re: Referral
Today was the day that Opium went to see orthopedic vet.
Manual manipulation gave no impression of hip problems nor torn ligaments. Xrays were taken and all explanations given.
Confirmed no hip problems nor the slightest sign of dysplasia, she is near perfect. No torn ligaments neither on hing legs but he suspects that she has pulled a ligament and that’s why she’s hopping a bit.
He confirmed no surgery necessary (PHEW !) and that it would get better with time and “rest” (for a very active dog) which she has had for the past 6 weeks now. He is fan of food supplements and although not over enthusiastic about the YuMove, he recommended giving flexadin advanced for regular periods.
Opium does have a weakness in her back and she compensates with her muscles so I just need to watch that but nothing to do and no surgery required later on.
Sleepy Opium snoozing on my lap, bless

Just looked up Flexadin - wow, they're expensive!
They do seem good, though.

Erm yes but I bought a bag of 60 on the net for the same price as 30 at the vets last night
The vet did insist on the flexadin advanced in terms of dosage
