Little Rash
Always something
This morning Luna woke up with a little rash on her chest/belly area. She didn’t have it yesterday evening for definite as I was petting her belly a lot and would have noticed it. I’m not sure if she had it when she woke up or if it appeared after she went out the back to go toilet. If it’s still like this tomorrow I will have to go to the vets I suppose but does anyone have any idea what it is? And how to soothe it. I have a Johnson’s skin eaze cream for dogs and cats, says it’s for aiding relief in symptoms of minor skin affections so I put in a small bit to see if it helps at all..

Re: Little Rash
Poor Luna
Has she been running through tall grasses recently ?
Are the hives soft or harder, eventually with a crust on top ?
First thought would be vegetation allergy.
Several here will recommend piriton

Re: Little Rash
Yeah there’s some high weeds in the back of the garden, that was my initial thought that she could have walked through them and get irritated.. they’re soft bumps, they don’t really even raise from her belly at the moment you can’t feel them when you touch there you can only see them. Definitely no crust on them but I’m really convinced it’s fresh so she probably just didn’t have the time or way to scratch at them. Can I get piriton without prescription?

Re: Little Rash
I don’t think you need a prescription in the UK but it’s an over the counter in a pharmacist ...

Re: Little Rash
Yes I agree with Nifty, she's been through long grass or plants! Yes you can get Piriton without a prescription, I use Tesco own antihistamine for Katy & myself

Re: Little Rash
Yes it's for humans but has the same ingredients as the ones for dogs. Our vet told me to use them as they are much cheaper than ones from the vet!

Re: Little Rash
Yes, Piriton is fine - one tablet, twice a day to start with. If it works, then reduce to half a tablet twice a day or just one tablet in the morning.
Don't tell the pharmacy it's for a dog!

Re: Little Rash
Great thanks so much, couldn’t get them yesterday as all pharmacies were closed but we got them this morning and she got one tablet.
The rash is already gone down a small bit since yesterday, we massaged coconut oil into it a few times yesterday the baby was loving it you could tell it was soothing her

Re: Little Rash
I think my girls would hastily lick the coconut oil afterwards
Will be interesting to see how she is tomorrow morning.
