Canine osteopathy ? Empty Canine osteopathy ?

Post by Nifty staffy Tue Jun 16 2020, 20:08

Has anyone got any experience of canine osteopathy ?
Vet and dog trainers have both suggest I show Nifty as she’s starting to have a roach back.

I have to take an appointment with a local vet who also does osteopathy on dogs.
I’m dreading the worst with regards to what she’ll say about Nifty. Sad

I had to google roach back, never heard of it! I haven't any experience with canine osteopaths but I'm sure they are just as good as human ones Smile
Let us know what they say & how she gets on Love Struck

What do you mean by stomach issues gilly ?
Nifty has a sensitive transit, and she’s overweight despite eating less than recommended portion of kibble

Roaching the back can indicate stomach problems - discomfort/pain.

Ok, I’ll mention it to the vet during the appointment.
Thanks for the heads up Smile

Well this thread is worrying 😐 I have mentioned Luna’s back to a vet before but she has felt it around and said it seems fine to her if the dogs movements aren’t impaired. I’ve never heard of roach back but after looking it up it’s concerning me. This is a picture of Luna’s back, sometimes it’s more straight then that, she tends to “sneak” around a lot like the cat and when she’s zooming around her bum is like tucked in so I just assumed her back is supposed to be like this? Should I take her to a different vet for second opinion?

No, she looks fine.

As her back muscles strengthen you should find that her topline will even out a bit.

Luna looks fine to me too Smile If she's zooming around with her bum tucked in, that's called zoomies which all staffies do with their bums low to the floor Love Struck Laughing

Yeah she’s not too muscly yet, i didn’t realise her top line would even out over time though Smile this is why internet is bad, you see a post with something new like this whole roach back thing is to me and online it basically shows any bump on the back as a roach back 🙄

She is constantly zooming like that, she’ll try to like zoom past you but as close to you as she can get or she’ll pretend she’s going to crash into you and then turns at last second 😂
