Consequences of COVID-19 Empty Consequences of COVID-19

With restrictions in each country asking us to stay home, only venturing out for emergencies (medical, food or other), I was reading an article where they were saying that vets, like human medical services, are only taking on emergency cases.

Vaccinations and spaying/castration are not considered as being emergency but preventive measures.
Therefore they were saying to keep your unvaccinated pet at home to avoid catching/spreading other diseases

There is also the problem of the net increase in abandoned pets (cats and dogs) and stray dogs during these stressful times.

Consequences of COVID-19 Empty Re: Consequences of COVID-19

A small dog appeared in my garden the other day.  Small terrier type dog who had recently been to dog groomer so not a stray. She was wearing a collar but no ID tags. My girls, fenced in the other part of the garden, were not at all impressed by this visit.

A walk around the village (when I’m supposed to be isolated at home) and speaking to a few neighbours from a distance, turns out that she lives in the village. Owners probably let her out “to do her business” angry

I live in the country and every house here has some kind of garden. How completely and utterly selfish and irresponsible. banghead

It does make you cross! My neighbour used to let his out to do his business but I saw him down the village & again he crossed the road to follow me & Katy angry I had a few words with him & said I would report him if I saw him out again alone. He was quite shocked to hear he was going so far & I haven't seen him loose since Smile
As for going out once a day! I still take Katy twice as she needs her exercise.

After toilet paper, pasta and eggs, what is it with people bulk buying dog food ?
Most online sites are out of stock.

If you look at the other countries already in confinement, at worst we are looking at 6-8 weeks. If my girls can hold over a month on a bag of kibble, why are all the shops out of stock ?? angry

It's unbelievable isn't it! My local pets at home had Katy's food last week but I needed to get some biscuit for my Mum's cats, had a choice of 2! Hope they like it Rolling Eyes
I get 2 2kg bags of kibble for Katy & that lasts a month! They should stop everyone bulk buying angry

They should do what they're doing in Denmark - you buy one item at the normal price, but if you buy two the price of the second one is doubled, three and it's trebled! Obviously, if you have a large family & can prove you need more, they'll allow it, but there's no longer any panic buying in Denmark!
