Cutting nails
When we first got Luna we tried to get her used to getting her nails clipped. She kind of let us but only when she was really tired falling asleep. However in last month or so she’s gotten more aware of things when she sleeps and doesn’t allow for her nails to be cut when she’s dozing off anymore. I have tried putting her on a table and kind of pressing her against my body so I can get a good grip on her paw but she goes insane trying get her paws away, the second the nail clippers are out she’s cowering. She just will not allow you to do it I am only able to do one nail every few days and that’s by chance if I get it fast enough before she pulls away. Obviously I don’t want it to be like this because I don’t want her to pull her paw away when I’m cutting them and get hurt! I don’t understand why she is so afraid as she never got hurt while getting them cut, we never cut them too short or nipped her ski or anything.... I just want to try and resolve it before she gets too big, which she is 7 months old now so not too much time left

Re: Cutting nails
I've never had to do Katy's nails other than occasionally her dew claws. Maybe you could try distracting her with a likkimat with something tasty spread on it to occupy her whilst you are doing them. I would suggest one foot a day as to not stress her

Re: Cutting nails
Go right back to basics. Handle her paws, one by one, a couple of times a day. Spread her toes a little & touch her claws. Give her a treat.
Then hold each paw for a minute with claws spread. Treat.
Then put the clippers on a table & touch/hold her claws. Next, bring the clippers closer, maybe on the floor where she can see them, but not too near. Treat.
Then touch the clippers to her claw just for a second, put them down & treat.
You get the general idea - if at any time she spooks, go back a step. Hopefully she'll see the clippers aren't nasty!

Re: Cutting nails
gilly is spot on.
I have a 3 month old girl and want to do her nails myself but quickly learned the tighter you hold her paws or force her to hold still the more she will fights.
My current approach is to have her in my lap in a position so i have good access to one paw and i stroke and hold it off and on for a few mins then bring the clippers close to them so she can sniff them and after shes comfortable i gently bring the clippers to a nail and snip the end off, then i repeat the process for the other nails on that paw, then i re position her on my lap so i have good access to another paw and repeat it.
If the above does not work first time then try again later or the next day in the same way,
eventually she wont fear it
best advise i can give is you must get comfortable with it, forcing her
or doing it snidely when she sleeping will only make it worse.
